I'm going to show off my wife's handiwork in making a Hollow Knight costume for our youngest in less than 24 hours. This is her first time working with foam for costume making.

Today, I started learning trombone.
I have no real interest in learning it, but my youngest plays it in the school band. We borrowed his instrument over summer break, and he's been struggling to practice.
His flavor of ADHD convinces him that he's bad at things, even when he is good at them. This makes boring things like practicing even more difficult, even when he's interested in the subject.
So I rented a trombone, and he will be teaching me how to play. We started tonight, and he's already rattling off positions and practice verses and what have you. Because he knows this stuff, even when he claims he doesn't.
I hope this continues to work.

My wife and I have friends whose child just came out as trans. They reacted poorly. They believe that the child can't know that they are trans, and nothing should be done to support them until the child is an adult.
My wife and I called bullshit, and we have been advocating for the child. This has become quite an argument.
My question for the trans folks willing to answer. At about what age did you realize you were trans?

Maybe the fediverse has the answer. I have Python scripts on a Linux server that I am running as a service account. They need packages from PyPI for the script to work, and the account does not have a home directory. How should I handle the virtual environment for that?

Sometimes I think to use the phrase "Holy Toledo". Which is from 1995's Gumby: The Movie. And then I think about how old I am, and that few people probably remember Gumby, and my hair turns a little grayer.

I need a smart ZFS person. I have two good drives from a three drive RAIDZ1 that I need to import.
The SAS controller on my server failed and caused one of the drives to disconnect. I tried moving the backplane to regular SATA ports. All the drives showed up, but there was no pool (not even to import). I moved the cables back to the controller, and the pool came back as before (degraded). I exported the pool so that I could hopefully import it after moving it.
Now it won't import using either cable configuration. The server is running TrueNAS, and I also have a Proxmox server to use.
Any hints for what to try would be great.

@nprofile…p7lw The Zulip docs and website needs better clarity and organization. It has built in moderation tools (https://zulip.com/help/moderating-open-organizations) and the Self Hosted plans only add push notifications for the mobile apps and product support. Everything else, including SSO via SAML, are included in the open source version for as many users as your server can handle. They even have decent docs related to scaling.

A bit ago I learned that Minneapolis has an electronics thrift store. I went there today, tripped, and accidentally bought a tower server for $200. 12 cores, 128GB of RAM, and 3 4TB drives.
So now I have a TrueNAS server humming in the basement.

I tried finding a group to play RPGs on the work Slack. Someone recommended that I play the current Star Wars RPG.
I took a look at it, and... Am I alone in thinking that their narrative dice are more complicated than regular dice? Do I need 7 colors and multiple non-obvious symbols to play the game narratively?

@nprofile…43xm I'm looking for a setting-agnostic system to run some game settings. Two settings take place in Oz and Neverland, and are loosely based on D&D 5e. The other is a TMNT-style game that works like Palladium's stuff.
I need something rules light for the players. Could Cortex Lite work for these settings, and would I need Cortex Prime to fill any gaps?
I haven't read either Cortex book, yet. I'm trying to figure out what I need.
