Thank you all for your responses.
I asked because I bristle when people attempt to dilute and soften what happened when my mother was murdered. I use the word "murdered" or "killed", because the murderer doesn't get to have simply officiated a "passing". My best friend told me she says that to be kind to me. I just wanted to understand why she feels that cushioning language is kind. I still don't like the euphemistim, but I understand that it's pervasive, and meant to be "good manners". TYFYC

When a person is deceased, how do you describe/discuss the event?
Extra credit if you explain our answer.

I appreciate @npub12y3…05cn @npub19f6…n48s, @npub145e…kjzl and ESPECIALLY @npub1fmx…wp74 for rushing in to fill the chasm left by the devastating death of JCD. I've been a listener, then a producer, then an active participant in this amazing community for too long to just let it float away. I'm prepared to welcome the evolution.
Also... Should any of you ever require or desire a woman's perspective, there are a few Dames who would love to contribute. ;) Cheers and Smooches!

There are lots of recipes and products nowadays that you can sustitute for all the high carb stuff, and some are quite tasty. It's not hard once you get the hang of it. I don't even miss starchy foods anymore.

It's not Trump. I mean, maybe a little on the surface, but mostly young people are crushed by debt and floundering in an increasingly unaffordable cost of living. They feel unable to achieve the level of success of previous generations.
Some of that is their own fault for being unwilling to start small and work up... they want everything their parents and grandparents had in middle and old age, but they want it right out of college.
But some of it is capitalism that's gone too far.

(Everybody else, PLZ boost for visibility! xo)
2 questions:
1) a noticeable gap has recently appeared before each clip, when I hit the button, even if the front of said clip is trimmed to a hair's width. What happened, and how do I fix it?
2) HOW does Adam do those instant replays? Like when the stream gets wonky and Adam just says, "ok take it from here" and replays to that exact point in the conversation. Is he just a wizard? Or is there a special secret?

All I'm saying is that if the good guys play dirty because the bad guys are playing dirty, the good guys, BY DEFINITION become bad, because they're doing bad things, and we are what we do, not what we say. So at that point, since you're as bad as them, you have no moral high ground. But, if playing dirty is a precondition of winning... then you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I'm always up for defining nomenclature... When I say "values", I mean morals, scruples, ethics. Do you feel that's misconstrued? If so, how do you define values?

2025-11-22 21:59:26 GMT

- reply

Being resolved in your position is noble (assuming it's a noble position), but fanaticism implies an extremism that can't be characterized as good or just.
You certainly don't need to identify with an opposing ideology to not be a zealot.
There are degrees of dedication, and it is possible to cross a line, maybe without even realizing it until it's too late.

2025-11-22 21:29:05 GMT

- reply

The problem with that is you can't do it if you have a healthy conscience, and if you compromise your values that way you become the same or worse than your adversary.

I don't know if this means anything, but I feel I should mention it:
I contacted Alby support a couple of days ago to get instructions directly from them. They answered very quickly. Within an hour. I followed the instructions PRECISELY and kept hitting a wall regarding a recovery path. So I emailed again, thus:
"Please send me the correct Windows desktop installer (.exe) for the version that supports seed recovery."
Crickets for 24 hrs.
Does Alby not want me to recover my stuff?

I'd be glad to hand over the reigns. Just tell me when.
The other copies you see in the screenshot are when I attempted to re-install the app so that it would show a recovery path. Alas, to no avail. But they're just copies. I don't think I made it worse.

I've followed instructions to the letter. I'm trapped in a loop. It would make anyone frustrated. Most non-tech people would have given up weeks ago. Or months ago.
I've provided all the relevant screen shots. I'm not sure if you were tagged in all of them, but I'm as transparent as I can be.
The 4 steps are probably geared for those who subscribe, and that's a viable business model.

I only want a clear path forward to recover the account. I did my part. I retained all the recovery phrase words and the public and private keys. It's not unreasonable to ask Alby to do its part and show me where they keep the lock.

2025-11-19 03:37:29 GMT

I'vr TRIED. I've sent MANY screen shots. EVERYTHING leads me in a giant loop. I'm not trying to crochet here. There HAS to be a solution!
This whole thing is due to the fact that I CANNOT access any field in which to plant my SEED, which I still have. It appears that Alby has removed ALL access for ME (Maybe others can do it, but my system and setup simply WILL NOT) to a recovery link.
I've contacted support for a direct recovery link. They haven't answered yet.

So far I’ve downloaded files that open nothing, tapped buttons that change identities, and followed guides clearly written for a much luckier version of me. I’ve spent WEEKS trying to get into the Alby Hub wallet I made in July. Every tutorial shows magical buttons that refuse to appear for me. Pages loop, menus vanish, features teleport. I’m starting to wonder if my setup was built on a dare. Adam was right — it’s a miracle any of this functions. At this point I’m running on sheer determination and caffeine.

It'll rally. It always does. I keep an eye on my positions, but I don't sweat the swings too much. Long-haul investments like mutuals and metals usually trend upward over time. I've taken a chance on a very few individual stocks, and I usually just break even on those. The fund managers are WAY better at it than I am. I'll gladly pay a commission for that.

Probably for the best. The market took a big ol dump today. This could be the dip you were looking for. I wish I'd held off on the nuke stocks. Today would have been a much better day to buy those. I lost about 15% on them in approximately a week, so I'm glad I didn't put too much into them.

Yes, the screen shots I sent immediately prior to the last screenshots were from the Alby Hub app. Do they look wrong?

The screens I sent previously were Alby Hub. This is the first screen Top and bottom) after the sign in for getalby.com:

Okay, so after I sign in, this is the first screen, second screen, third screen after following the prompts for "self-custodial".
Please show me on the dolly where to touch...

Are you saying that I should NOT sign in? Should i pretend like I'm making a new account?

At the risk of sound like a cross between dumb-as-a-brick and a nagging wife, WHERE, PRECISELY do I find the place to type in the recovery words?

Ok. There is the off chance that when I very first got the Alby app, pre-Hub, on a device that drowned a couple of years ago. Did the sats drown with the computer?

But I want ONE hub. That seems to be an option that eludes me.

The hub through umbrel has the sats CSB sent. The hub that I poked around and found in one of my computers is prompting me to go back through all the steps. It wants me to open my "first" channel. Again.

I tried poking around at some keys and i got a new page asking me to open my first channel. From this I will infer that I do have more than one hub, and now that is a BIG PROBLEM. How to I integrate everything I've done for the last few years into a single account with a single wallet?
The last few weeks represent the most concentrated time I've spent at a computer keyboard BY FAR in my entire 55 year old life.

Honestly, I don't know. I followed the instructions on the screen to the best of my ability. Was I supposed to intuit something that was inferred but not explicitly instructed?
