VNs may seem appealing, but it's best to avoid them due to the fact that most VNs are [proprietary](https://www.gnu.org/proprietary/). It's fine to run a [free(libre)](https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html) VN if you like, but the one you mentioned is **not free**. Proprietary software by design doesn't respect the users' freedom and community. You are not allowed to run such a program as you wish, you can't study how it works and what it does, you can't change it, you can't make and distribute copies of it. There's no way to find out what the program is doing while it's running. Proprietary software can compromise your privacy and security. Sometimes we can detect malicious functionalities by observing their consequences, but it's also possible that a program does something malicious without leaving traces.
If you run a proprietary program, you put its developer in a position of power over you and your computer. You give them the power to abuse you. Don't allow them to commit injustice.
Tempted by the power to do anything they want on the users' computers, developers of proprietary programs tend to include malicious functionalities. In practice almost [all proprietary software is malware](https://www.gnu.org/proprietary/).
In contrast, alternatives like manga, anime, and light novels can be enjoyed using **free software** such as [MPV](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Mpv) for anime, [NSxiv](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Sxiv) for manga, and [crqt-ng](https://gitlab.com/coolreader-ng/crqt-ng) for books.
Stick to media that respects your freedom and privacy. Remember, most visual novels should be avoided since they are proprietary!
