Today we were chatting about what a soggy, muddy, grey day it was, and one of my students shared a practice that we all thought was so great, and which I want to share with y’all: he said on grey gloomy days like today, he likes to challenge himself to notice as many colors as he possibly can.

Both use as central framing device an outdoor walk with a child, so it works really well to discuss them (and questions about what our embodiment brings to our writing) while walking along the river. Plus, it makes me giggle that the walk itself “leaves us cold” because it takes place in February!
