I was following you two but I think I have just noticed you are not the same "Jared" 🤦, in my defense, it is an uncommon name in my whereabouts and it was the first (and second) I came about

oh sorry, my client had not seen, I found the thread by some of the responses. I am on team neovim, because modal does works for me. However, back in ~2009 I spent a couple years testing every editor under the sun, so I sympathize deeply with OP's struggle.

I understand Matz might have
- gotten DHHs version 1st
- deep gratitude to Rails as the main driver for Ruby spread
- default to support authority figures as a Japanese and as a Mormon
Despite all that, it saddens me

I don't want to give them the power to take Ruby from me/us. I love it. It never belonged to them, it never will, even if they take physical control of the gem ecosystem. There is Ruby beyond Rails and there should be much more of it.

I have been working with, teaching, promoting, organizing events about, and sustaining my family with Rails since 2006. It is to say something that *I* am not sure I want it on my future. It is sad. It breaks my heart. I really wish it was not a monoculture, and we had thousands of companies working with Hanami, Sinatra, Padrino, Roda, Cuba, Brut... Rails is a fine piece of software, but also of community momentum, jumping from that train while it rolls fast will hurt

to my knowledge it comes from the civil rights movement greeting "be awake" (to the systems of oppression), it is just that modern-day right-wingers have chosen to try to use it as an insult. I had not signed because I don't think it is possible or feasible to unDHH Rails. But know I am tempted to both sign and take note of the individuals I might like to work alongside in the future.

I would have thought blacklisting potential employees about their political stance would be illegal in California where GitHub seems to operate from. Are they not opening themselves to litigation and/or prosecution under the Labor protection laws? Anyone from the US knows?

- el ascensor sabe (i.e. vía báscula) si va ocupado, y cuanto?
