This is what happens when one of the most followed investment gurus on X keeps telling his followers to “buy & leverage” at $90k https://image.nostr.build/ef0beeeb8506a3fc487d1684d7b19836b51e6b4fb07dc5028b34ac174b736dfd.jpg

Last time I checked Switzerland like 5 years ago, Switzerland had average wealth of $500k and median wealth of $250k. The gap between rich and poor has increased.

Is the US really just sending bitcoin to Coinbase for safekeeping? This dump is pretty consistent with a large sell order a few hours after their deposit.

I think there are other ToS involved here, can you buy Disney resort tickets on Disney+? There are also the ToS of the Disney My Experience app, no? I didn’t actually read the article, I asked for Gemini to summarise it lol

2024-08-15 14:16:24 GMT

This is not just Disney, many corporations have a clause in their ToS that any dispute with their users shall be done through arbitration.

I just sold all my bitcoin to invest in Roubini’s new ETF 🔥
It protects against “inflation, debasement of fiat currency, dedolarization, climate change, pandemic, protectionism, deglobalization, cyberwarfare, social/political instability” by investing in “climate resistant real state, new communities, green metals, rare earths, gold, short-term treasuries and treasury inflation protected securities” https://image.nostr.build/445fdee38407ec88a32d5d379eb4a9edde6e7f31aec4977f56a01c7b759204fc.jpg

Damus comes with 10 built-in relays but I was only able to connect to 3 of them. Now added more relays manually, including some recommended by Damus. Relay management should be an automatic process.

Shitcoiners already invented this game, it was called fomo3D. If you increase the deadline time every time someone tips, it can lead to insanely high pots.

Hmm.. I just came back to NOSTR on #damus after one year away and honestly was expecting better UX improvements. My general feed is full of Japanese and chinese content which I can’t easily filter out!

Yeah need to check that.. my feed does seem small.. thanks for the recommendation but I need to find closer relays, I am in Europe.

What about an easy way for users to tag content/accounts as ai-generated? Many content creators will abuse AI, this is a way to keep things in check.

Here is how the "Geneva bitcoin gift cards" work:
- For the purple card, you choose a value between 50 and 500 CHF (worth about $55 and $550) to pay at the counter. The black card has the fixed value of 500 CHF ($550).
- You pay the card value at the counter. In the case of the purple card, the vendor registers the value of the card. This can be done with cash KYC free.
- You visit https://cryptonow.ch/go to redeem the card. Scratch the PIN field in the back of the card to prove ownership. You also need to provide a phone number (swiss or not) and introduce the OTP sent by SMS.
- After that, the redeem process is complete. The fiat value of the card will be converted to bitcoin then and sent to the address on the card within 60 minutes. There is a 10% markup fee on the exchange rate.
- Scratch the private key field on the back of the card to control the bitcoin (I used the old Mycellium wallet).
Some remarks:
- The markup fee of 10% is too high. It's as high as a bitcoin ATM.
- Technically you can buy bitcoin KYC free using this method, just use a phone number that is not associated to your identity (not all countries do KYC when buying a SIM card).
- The process is cumbersome because it requires two transactions to secure your bitcoin. One to your gift card address and another to your a cold storage address. It would be much better if you were prompted for a bitcoin address on the redeem webpage. Unfortunately many bitcoin ATMs also use this two-transfer process.

I bet that if the US/EU government orders Ledger to confiscate funds from a "Ledger Recovery" user, they will comply.
All they have to do is to get an additional shard from Coincover or EscrowTech.

New lightning animal feeder. I find it quite fun because the cats sprint once the food os released. Pity that it can only be done once per hour.

I think there will be a ton of experimentation on how to sort notes. something twitter should have made more transparent and customizable. the great thing about nostr is that it's 99% open source those algorithms can be incrementally improved over time.
I currently have the same issue with LightningNetworkStores.com and I let users customize the sorting based on six paramaters, but it doesn't seem most users even bother tuning it.
I think the best clients will try to gather as much information from the user as possible - what the user likes, what he engages with, who he follows, who he tips - and use that to customize the ordering of the notes on the user's feed.

2023-01-30 11:37:45 GMT

I think this will be how relays/clients will be able to make money. you pay a subscription or a per-use fee to make sure your notes never disappear or get saved for at least, say, 1 year.

2023-01-30 11:28:17 GMT

- reply

apparently Amethyst also has that option... you can keep a 2/3 clients open and connected to different relays. as soon as you write a note, you try to find it on the other clients and broadcast it further.

2023-01-30 11:18:29 GMT
