You’ll need to get in touch with the owner. It’s a sensitive process from a legal/compliance/regulatory pov. But once they decide to turn it on it only takes a minute.
I would lead with the basics:
1. Zero processing fees until 2027
2. Never miss a sale. An emergent way for customers to pay
3. Instant, no chargebacks, and can be settled in USD so its business as usual

Not yet but very soon. We partnered with btcmap.org so Square businesses with bitcoin payments can opt in to display on the map.
We also built it directly in Cash App so it has a fully integrated discover/navigate/pay experience.
You’ll be able to find it in the bitcoin applet by Nov. 10 (official payments launch day)

That’s secondary to it. I won’t bore you with the details but because bitcoin is so regulated (with nuances at the state level in some cases), auto-on even as USD is extremely tricky.
We’re working to unlock this as much as possible but it requires taking a very methodical approach that focuses on specific segments at a time.

For payments specifically? That’ll be generally available on Nov. 10 but here’s what to expect:
Go into Payment Settings in the Square app and you’ll see a new row for Bitcoin with an Activate button next to it.
We do a bunch of eligibility checks so activation will be quicker for some than others (depending on your business structure, geolocation, 2FA status, etc)
But everyone will have the option to choose USD or bitcoin settlement, and another surprise feature we’ll have at launch 👀
We’re looking into ways to auto-on bitcoin payments with USD settlement but as you can imagine it’s challenging from a legal and regulatory perspective.
Separately you can enable payments from Bitcoin onboarding (in Square Banking) where you can also configure your card sale conversions and set up your wallet.

Haha again, I’m not an engineer and Claude writes like 95% of my code, with me just going in and tweaking variables, adding modifiers (mostly do swiftui), and other little designer-friendly adjustments. I just find that I get the best results when I’m playing the role of orchestrator and executing on a vision and architecture that’s already in my head, as opposed to letting Claude go nuts and start bootstrapping its own ideas, which I think are usually pretty bad. Basically just try to achieve the design/eng pair flow state to build something specific, but it’s just me and the LLM that requires a lot of reining in.

If you mean AI then yeah, to an extent. But that means surrendering a lot of control. I’ve done the whole “let’s talk this through, ask clarifying questions, create a plan, break it into sections etc” thing and the results are still pretty bad even if the code is in a better place. The models are still not very good at interaction design or product thinking. Maybe this isn’t the case forever but it certainly is today. In other words the design bar is pretty low, and if you want something that’s well-designed it takes a lot of slow and deliberate steering.

I’m not an engineer but I quickly realized one-shots are bullshit and if you go in without a plan you’re not going to build anything objectively good or scalable. You need a vision that you tackle methodically and deliberately. In my experience at least.

We’re nowhere near $1m per bitcoin and slowing NGU doesn’t put us there any time soon. This also breaks again once $1m is exceeded.
I’d just rather get away from fiat models altogether and just spend bitcoins, and spend less of them over time as fiat number goes up.
