@nprofile…5yjg Ayup. A lot of people don't know that that's almost exactly how OneNote works, too, though it has its own format.
But they don't have to know that's how OneNote works. I think Obsidian kinda wants you to know.
If I was unhappy with OneNote, I'd spend the time to migrate to Obsidian and setup file syncing so I can access my notes on all my devices. But that's effort. But it is how I'd want to use Obsidian.
OneNote, out of the box, comes with some structure and a sample document. That's enough to show you what it can do and how to start using it. Obsidian needs that.

They need some import tools for people used to other things, such as OneNote. And maybe the blank template needs some skeleton folders added so people have some "pre-explored" structure.

Screen on my phone has apparently developed a fault and the repair tech I just asked said it's not merely a loose connector - he recognised the symptom. It's fine most of the time but at $400 (it's a Pixel 8) to replace I'm probably better at just replacing the whole thing.
I don't need a you-beaut top-of-the-line phone. Storage is more important than speed. So what are people's experience with the Moto branded phones?

When I'm next made world ruler, I will make a law that requires anyone designing or installing bathrooms for a living *must* spend half their time as a professional cleaner of bathrooms.

My employer is getting into using AI to do things and I can't help but think this is a really bad idea. I'd like to have no part in it but that will mean resigning because the mandate has come from the CEO. I don't want to resign yet.
My particular bugbear is AI coding. I've tried it and it's shit.

Okay, Fediverse, I think I'm officially looking for a new job. Not urgently, as I _will_ need a break from the current one. And I haven't left my current one and I don't know when I should do that.
I want to say "full-stack web developer" but I'm not quite sure I am. Been doing React+TypeScript for a while. Can also do raw JavaScript and HTML and have done for decades. Not super up-to-date with CSS but can generally get there. Know how to do good API abstractions. Good with SQL. Good with IT security requirements. Not sure how much of all these I want to do. This all usually means "Senior Dev".
Not that great at supporting 24x7 apps as I greatly value my not-work time. Prefer only internal customers.
Sydney. Prefer hybrid, especially if the office is CBD or thereabouts. Not interested in moving.
Don't want a company leaning into AI. Unless I can be not a part of that.
Company size shouldn't matter - but I've had the most enjoyment in a smallish group that felt like a small company inside a large company. Not interested in a tiny startup.

Anyone know where in Australia to buy "Megasolv 172 electrical cleaning fluid"? Internet searching shows it's made by Xintex Group in Austria, but I can't find any distributors or retailers.
I have some left over from Dad and it works well, but I don't have lot. I believe he used to get it from where he worked.

I need a new grocery shopping list app. The one I've been using for years has started crashing and when I go looking for support, it's vanished from the app store. Abandonware.
So what do I want in a shopping app? Well, a to-buy list, obviously but also shows what I *had* on there and have checked odd. Also, must *not* require any sort of cloud account. I walked away from an earlier shopping list app because they tried to force people onto a cloud account.

I'm still on my re-read of the #Discworld novels. Last night I finished "The Truth".
I have no idea how hard or easy Terry found writing different novels, but this one was on fire from the start. By this point, Terry has started to let Ankh-Morpork develop over novels, instead of staying static. In this novel, the residents are introduced to moveable type printing and newspapers.
It also introduces us to a new recurring character, William de Worde. I think Terry might've really enjoyed creating William, because he's a connoisseur of words - just like Terry would've been. William is also, to quote him directly: "My family is rich. I'm not." This becomes a contrasting point later when he confronts his father because the elder de Worde is incredibly speciest, referring to a vampire as "it". But William has been working with dwarves and said vampire and has no concerns.
Terry has remarked that by about this point it was getting harder to set Discworld stories in Ankh-Morpork because the Watch is there. In this novel, the Watch is an important element, and it's kind of interesting seeing them operate more-or-less normally in the city when they're not the story's protagonists.
We also see more of Vetinari and his interactions with William de Worde are new and interesting because we haven't had a POV character like William before.
"The Truth" is one of my favourite Discworld novels. And newspapers are a welcome addition to Ankh-Morpork, a city now even more removed from what it was like in "The Colour Of Magic".
