If you use Linux and you understand that it requires greater investment than Windows, and you understand that said investmet is a turnoff to the Average Computer User, then I thank you and we can be friends. Yes, Linux has many advantages; but it is designed in a way that requires WORK to make it do everything you need. It is designed by and for computer-savvy people. And these people have knowledge and experience the Average Computer User does not.

I saw a #Western #TTRPG using the #Traveller system, and the author kept the hexadecimal notation for the profiles. I saw that as a missed opportunity. The stats should run from 2 to 10 (A), then Jack (11/B), Queen (12/C), King (13/D), Ace (14)/E and Joker (15/F). I suppose 1 could be included, but when was the last time you saw a "1" stat in Traveller?

@nprofile…zvch Having tried it, I can *not* recommend elementary OS. I, a long-time Windows user, could not get it to do everything I wanted it to do out of the box. Installing packages was opaque and confusing. It lacks control over the desktop elements. The "Applications" button is a very poor replacement for a Start menu. Overall, it needs a *lot* of work and is *not* "easy". Mint is much better, but I'm curious about Zorin.

@nprofile…u7s3 Neither #SimpleFantasyAdventure nor SFA Revised have any art. SFA's cover is a PD illo; SFAR's was a free-to-use image from DTRPG. Michael Wolf himself purchased the art we used in Resolute, Adventurer & Genius as a gift to me. I would *love* to be able to order bespoke art for projects, or even purchase quality stock art, but the simple fact is I'm too damn poor.

If we're going to decide, as a community, that nobody should use gen AI in their #TTRPG projects -- not even poor creators who would never be able to afford a real artist's work -- then we need to normalize no-art projects and editions. Far too often, projects get dinged for having either poorly-self-drawn illustrations or no art at all; if we're going to cut one possible source, we need to stop doing that.

I've learned a thing or two about #bladesmithing thanks to watching tons of forging videos on YouTube. But I've also learned that smithing by hand is a long, onerous and sometimes multiperson task. Modern gas furnaces, repeating power hammers, and forge presses really do help.
Enter #dwarves and #gnomes in a fantasy setting. How might they go about creating such forging tools? We do it with gas and electricity. How would they? #ttrpg

I can't sleep.
I can't lie down because I have too much fluid weight on and I wake up every 45 minutes feeling like I can't breathe. I can't lie propped up because I seem to have developed coccydynia (look it up). I can't sleep sitting in a chair because... yeah. I can only sleep in the dialysis recliner, and today is an "off" day.

Can we please stop refering to the proto-4e "Star Wars Saga Edition" as "SAGA"? #SAGA, capitalized, was TSR's card-based system for Dragonlance and Marvel. Yes, it *does* cause confusion when you do that, for those of us old enough to have invested in SAGA. Please be considerate.
In the same vein, can we expand the differentiation between Star Wars and #SavageWorlds? Star Wars was "SW" for decades before Savage Worlds was a thing. "SWADE" is much better.

I am so over the #ENnies (and awards competitions in general). I've seen people begging for votes; I've known people who rushed out products just "to have something to get into the ENnies". It's not about the worth of the candidates. It's a popularity contest. The whole concept is dated and ridiculous.
