Is there a free software alternative to join the discussion?

This is why I thought Proof of Stake would of been better than simply switching the mining algo. Or at least use Monero's algo. #nevent1q…xm7v

They hardforked the culture first. Everything is downstream from that.

Well we definately cared when Roger Ver called Bcash --> Bitcoin on bitcoin.com. A lot of new people who didn't know better even lost money and bought the wrong coin because of the name confusion. Suits are going to try and Roger Ver us. I can see the jab coming so I can't help but instinctively want to slip my head off of the line.

Thanks. Well, we'll see what happens I guess. Still think it is a weak strategy though, mine are better. I predict the spam/suitcoiners will just call it Blakecoin or Bblake to follow the Bcash pattern and give it the ticker BLK or BBK. Just my adversarial thinking 2 cents.

I don't want to have to use Big Tech Botnets to talk about Bitcoin of all things.

No, not at all. The privacy frontends I used for X are now all down. Nostr is the first social media thingy I've tried using in over a decade.

Agree with the ticker name, but prefer the name "Bitcoin Prime", or "Bitcoin V1.0" both of which are turning the other cheek provocative. Bitcoin hyphen BLAKE in capital letters 2b is a dogshit name sorry.

People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy (yes I just quoted Batman Begins), a fork that is polished and ready to be deployed immediately in reaction to one of the predictions would have a much higher chance of success than a contentious hard fork deployed at an arbitrary date.
Tell me why I'm wrong/midwit and why we should just hard fork in the next 15 days with a dogshit name like Bitcoin Blake2b and the battle cry of LEEEEROOOY JENKINSSSS!!!

The only type of hard fork I can think of that can 100% withstand a malicious miner attack is a hard fork to Proof of Stake. This would also punish people dumping the coin and incentivize people to keep hodling, and run a node.
Or if Proof of Stake is still somehow the greater evil at this point, what about merge mining with Monero's mining algo? We immediately get protection from Monero's battle tested eco-system.

Back in 2016 I was totally on board with Luke's proposed Keccak PoW hard fork to fix miner centralization. The mere threat of it was one of the factors that I believe resolved the Blocksize War.
Now it feels like there's 1000x times more of people's life savings at risk. So I believe there needs to be a much more creative and elegant solution than a simple PoW change.
If a hard fork is truly unavoidable, let's at least take the opportunity to consider all of the items on the Hard Fork Wishlist so we never have to do it again and ossify to Bitcoin V1.0.
300Kb blocks, privacy by default, UTXOs ownership for all, quantum resistance, remove all the existing non-monetary spam. To overcome the incumbent network effect you need to be 10x better.
I even think to survive we will probably need to freeze or redistribute Blackrock's and other highly captured actors' coins. Otherwise they will permanently own our coin as well, via a Sword of Damocles of being able to dump massive amounts and manipulate the price at any time.
If that is too unpalatable then it's time for us all to start CPU mining block 1 of Bitcoin2.
RUG THE SPAMMERS, FIRE THE MINERS, DETHRONE THE SUITS.

So why do we even need to hard fork the PoW algo? Even if there's just one block per day, the chain actually still works!
We would just be leap frogging to the prophesied hyperbitcoinization scenario where you just use the chain a few times a year to open and close lightning channels.
Also what happens once there's a mining difficulty adjustment?
