Sounds like he got himself into a shitty cycle of sorts. I won't speculate on what led to the divorce but getting boozed up in the day whilst having a well paying stable job and the damage to health is deliberate self sabotage.

I reckon that 'in the privacy of their own bedrooms' was the first paving slab lain on this particular road to hell. I used to be that sort until my early twenties, when I became a dad and then it flipped a switch and I was quit ashamed at my previous position and wanted them as far from my family as possible.

It was for us too, also Catholic school system. Oddly my high school had the most bizarre set up where you couldn't study Spanish at 'A' level until you'd passed the French GCSE, as if French were some essential foundation to learning Spanish or some other bollocks. :mfw_niggers: Small wonder many students just got stoned behind the cricket pavilion and a quarter of the lasses were knocked up before turning 17.

Personally I never got why French was always the standard foreign language option here. I am glad I went to school and through the university trail but they didn't half try to stuff us with badly edited history and other useless or detrimental crap. I learned more in the field than any classroom.
