The Fed is following the 1995 playbook – and that's great news for stocks and the economy
==========
The Fed's recent 50 basis point rate cut mirrors its actions in 1995; TS Lombard suggests this will prevent a recession and boost the economy. In 1995, the Fed lowered rates from 6% to 4.75%, leading to a GDP growth increase from 4.4% to nearly 5% by 1998 and a 125% rise in the S&P 500. Dario Perkins of TS Lombard believes the current rate cut could set the stage for a booming stock market. Despite concerns over inflation, market expectations remain stable with inflation projected just above 2%. Stocks rose following the rate cut, indicating investor optimism.

Trump ally Bessent says stocks will fall on 'shaky' economy
==========
Scott Bessent, managing director of Key Square Capital Management, predicts increased volatility and a decline in U.S. markets due to a fragile economy; he describes the U.S. economy as in a 'precarious emerging market-style equilibrium'; large government deficits and short-term debt issuance have created asset bubbles; stagnant wages and rising costs are harming lower-income groups, leading to increased borrowing and defaults; Bessent, a former CIO at Soros Fund Management and Trump fundraiser, was introduced by Trump at a rally in Asheville, North Carolina; his hedge fund was flat through early August 2024; he is buying natural gas futures and stocks anticipating price increases; he expects the Bank of Japan to raise rates higher and longer than expected, which may strengthen the Japanese economy.

Interest rates are about to do something they haven't done since March 2020, and it could cause a big move in the stock market
==========
The U.S. Federal Reserve aims to keep the consumer price index (CPI) of inflation growing at an annual rate of 2%. The CPI hit a 40-year high of 8% in 2022, prompting an aggressive rate-hiking campaign. Inflation has cooled significantly since then, so the central bank appears poised to reverse that policy. The Fed is likely to cut rates three times by the end of 2024. Falling interest rates are often a precursor to a decline in the stock market. The S&P 500 fell during previous rate cuts in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2008. However, the stock market tends to recover over the long term, so any weakness can be a buying opportunity. The Fed typically cuts rates when it sees weakness in the economy, which can signal that the S&P 500 will move lower in the short term. But looming rate cuts aren’t a reason to sell stocks. The unemployment rate has risen to 4.3%, and a weaker labor market could be a harbinger of weak consumer spending. The sooner the Fed starts cutting rates, the better the chance the U.S. economy can avoid unnecessary deterioration in the future.

The stock market is entering a prolonged period of chaos – and that’s a good thing
==========
Global markets experienced chaos as stock markets crashed in Japan, cryptocurrencies fell, and US stock markets closed down; The panic attack was caused by a culmination of factors including the Bank of Japan raising interest rates, concerns about Big Tech, and the market's digestion of the July jobs report; The chaos in the stock market is seen as a warning sign that a new era is dawning, with the inflationary post-pandemic economy fading and being replaced by something new; Uncertainty in the market is causing investors to be more selective about the stocks they pick; The current chaos is part of the process of transitioning to a more normal economic regime with lower inflation and interest rates; The Federal Reserve is expected to cut rates in September, but if the economic slowdown accelerates, a recession may occur; The chaos in the market is viewed as positive chaos, signaling a shift towards a new economic structure.

ExxonMobil believes the world will need much more energy in the future
==========
ExxonMobil believes that global energy demand will be 15% higher in 2050 than it is today, with stable oil demand at around 100 million barrels per day. The company sees significant growth in demand for renewables and natural gas. ExxonMobil aims to leverage its expertise in hydrocarbon molecules to participate in the low-carbon energy market, which it believes will reach $6 trillion by 2050. The company is investing in molecule-based businesses and is working on projects related to low-carbon hydrogen production, carbon capture, and lithium production for electric vehicles. ExxonMobil's broad investment strategy positions it to benefit from the growing demand for energy, regardless of the dominant energy source in the future.

Will the stock market rise if the Fed cuts rates in September? Here’s what history shows.
==========
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell cited two factors that could lead to rate cuts: inflation falling to 2.5% in June and weaker-than-expected July jobs numbers. The odds of a near-term rate cut have increased. The Fed has cut interest rates 28 times this century, with mixed results in the stock market. In some cases, the rate cuts weren't enough to offset economic or geopolitical challenges, while in others, investors may have waited to see the impact of the cuts. The Fed often announces its moves in advance, which can lead to investors buying before the cuts happen. The article suggests investing in long-term bonds and small-cap stocks if a rate cut is imminent.

Where will Nvidia stock be in 3 years?
==========
Nvidia stock has seen a 21% decline in the past 30 days due to a high valuation and low diversification. The potential economic slowdown and recession fears could further impact the company. Nvidia's business model could be undermined by macroeconomic factors beyond its control. The company's historically cyclical business may suffer during a recession as consumers opt for cheaper options. Analysts are concerned about the billions being spent on AI hardware with limited profits. Nvidia's overexposure to the AI chip market leaves it vulnerable to a decline in demand. The stock's current valuation may not be sustainable if the US economy slows down. Intel has turned down a chance to own 15% of OpenAI, indicating its struggle with AI rivals. Asian stocks have fallen due to US bond sales. Delaware Governor John Carney signs bills supporting youth mental health. Mortgage rates fall to lowest level in more than a year amid recession fears. Is now a good time to buy a home?
==========
Mortgage rates have fallen to their lowest level in more than a year. However, experts caution that it may not be a good time to buy a home due to high housing prices. The housing market is still considered too high as a whole. The possibility of the Federal Reserve cutting rates as the economy slows has pushed down 30-year mortgage rates. Global stock markets are falling as investors see weak job reports as a sign of a potential recession. However, economist Claudia Sahm says there is not enough evidence yet to confirm a recession. The 30-year yield has fallen to its lowest level since April 2023. Despite the drop in rates, home affordability has deteriorated significantly in recent years. Purchasing the average $383,000 home in May on an annual salary of $81,000 would consume 44% of a household's income. A drop in rates could lead to more housing inventory across the country. However, higher interest rates discourage homeowners from moving. The housing inventory is currently 32% below its pre-pandemic average. Prospective homeowners should also consider the rising costs of owning a property, such as utilities, insurance, and property taxes. Experts advise buyers to focus on their personal finances and risk tolerance when deciding to buy a home.

The US money supply has done something so unusual that it hasn't happened since the Great Depression - and a big move in stock prices could be on the way
==========
The US money supply, specifically the M2 money supply, has experienced a significant decline, which hasn't happened since the Great Depression. In April 2022, M2 reached a record high of $21.722 trillion, but by June 2024, it stood at $21.025 trillion, representing a cumulative decline of 3.21%. While this decline may be a reversion to the mean following historic growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, historical data suggests that a decline of at least 2% in the M2 money supply is correlated with economic depressions and periods of double-digit unemployment. The concern is that the decline in the money supply could lead to reduced capital for discretionary purchases, potentially impacting the current economic expansion and stock market. However, it's important to maintain perspective and patience when investing, as economic cycles and market fluctuations are normal and inevitable. In the long term, patience and perspective have proven to be more profitable for investors.

Nasdaq enters correction, Dow falls 600 points as disappointing jobs report shakes investors
==========
US stocks tumbled after the July jobs report showed a cooling labor market, plunging the Nasdaq into correction territory with a 2.6% drop and causing the Dow Jones to slump 1.5% or over 600 points. The S&P 500 sank 1.8%. The report revealed that the US economy added fewer jobs than expected in July, while the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 4.3%. Traders are now pricing in three rate cuts this year, with a 50 basis-point reduction expected in September. Chipmaker Intel's poor earnings report and sales forecast led to a 26% drop in its shares, dragging down other chip stocks. Amazon stock slid almost 9% on weak sales guidance, while Apple shares were up less than 1% after beating earnings expectations. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite has fallen more than 10% below its recent high in early July. "Bashing the rich is not what America is about," says Kevin O’Leary on raising taxes on the wealthy
==========
Kevin O’Leary, entrepreneur and TV personality, expressed his concerns about raising taxes on the wealthy in America. He stated that America should be seen as an entrepreneurial economy that rewards entrepreneurship and job creation. O’Leary argued against punishing successful entrepreneurs like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk for their achievements and emphasized that they already pay their fair share of taxes. However, organizations like Oxfam America believe that billionaires are not paying their fair share and advocate for a more progressive tax system. The debate over the fairness of the U.S. tax system continues, with O’Leary warning that excessive taxes can stifle innovation and entrepreneurship.

Stock market nears 2 catalysts that will fuel next phase of bull run, market expert says
==========
The stock market's record rally will get a boost from key economic and earnings data, according to Ed Yardeni. The releases of second-quarter GDP and June PCE on Thursday and Friday could fuel the soft landing narrative. Economists estimate that GDP growth will be 1.9% in the second quarter and that core PCE will rise 2.5% year-on-year in June. If the economic data matches expectations, it could be a reason to continue talking about a soft landing for the US economy, giving the Federal Reserve more reason to cut rates at its policy meeting in September. Yardeni Research disagrees with the view that the market is overvalued and in a bubble, citing strong corporate earnings and profit margins. The combined S&P 500 allocation to the information technology and communications services sectors is at 41%, similar to its peak in 2000. However, these two sectors now account for a third of the S&P 500's forward earnings per share. Yardeni expects the S&P 500 to deliver significant earnings per share growth in the coming years, with EPS projected to reach $400 by the end of the decade. Profit margins are near record highs, suggesting that earnings and economic growth will remain impressive in the second and third quarters.

American Airlines has a contract agreement with flight attendants, and President Biden is happy about it
==========
American Airlines and the union representing its flight attendants have reached an agreement on a new contract that includes pay increases. The agreement covers 28,000 workers and is subject to union approval. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants previously rejected a U.S. offer that would have increased pay by 18% immediately, followed by annual increases of 2%. The union had demanded 33% up front, followed by four annual increases of 6% each. Flight attendants have not received a raise since 2019. President Biden said the deal averts a strike that would have hurt the U.S. economy and consumers. The agreement is the result of efforts by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and acting Labor Secretary Julie Su. Biden has expressed support for unions and called for their support ahead of the November elections.
