Nous prévoyons également un dîner informel le samedi soir.

We are organizing, for the 2nd year in Toulouse (France), a Nix & Guix dev room at Capitole du Libre, November 14, 2026!
We're looking for various proposals for that track: lightning talks, longer presentations and discussions, sharing how you use Nix & Guix in real life, and demos of your latest side projects, either in French or English :)
We're also planning a meetup at LAAS (a research lab in Toulouse) on Friday afternoon and an informal dinner on Saturday evening.
* Submit a proposal: https://cdl.stoemp.club/guix-nix-au-capitole-du-libre-2026/cfp

Wrote an article about nar-klepto, a tool you can use to create an offline Guix and Nix binary cache for geeks events with terrible internet connectivity.

Claiming this available version number before somebody else claims it.

@nprofile…33hd T'as une source de la citation? Tu sais quelle toolchain ils utilisent pour arriver à ça?

@nprofile…33hd There are 255 comitters ATM.
I did not find any immediate way to get the number of contributors for the last year. I'm a bit too lazy to find the correct git+grep magic to do so. But the repo is public, anybody can do that I guess :D
In terms of regular contributors, 803 people were eligible to vote for the last steering committee elections. These people pushed more than 25 commits to Nixpkgs.

@nprofile…33hd Is this part of some effort to move to a forge-based system for Guix? Or is it completely unrelated?

Thursday, 10AM: I need to fix my xdg-portal-desktop-wlr setup on Guix.
(a few rabbit holes later, the original issue still not fixed...)
Thursday 8PM: this alsa-lib induce mass rebuild in painful on the laptop. I need to setup Guix on the shared build machine I have access to.
How's your day so far? 😅

@npub19am…qjn6 Do you remember if you find that rewarding when you started writing those?
I had some pretty terrible habits wrt. documentation, I've been fighting them hard for the past two years, but I still find writing those super hard and frustrating.
I wonder if it gets easier with time.

@npub19am…qjn6 I'd introduce software distribution to this list as well.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Nix/Guix concept, and exclusively use these systems. But we have to admit that, as it is, evaluating derivations from complex packagesets, downloading close-to-duplicate content to satisfy the store model have a real resource cost.
We're culprit to this software obesity to some extent.

I'm looking for a way to sync a grocery list with my partner, I could use some crowd knowledge here.
Requirements:
- IOS support.
- Android support.
- Desktop support.
(webapp ok if it's mobile-friendly)
Nice to have:
- self-hosted
or
- not FAANG-owned
What do you personally use?
