it’s supposed to be followable from anywhere, but there may well be bugs! Did you follow a user, or a creator handle?

2026-07-21 08:47:44 GMT

- reply

the name we ask for gets used as the *creator* name (which is what people would follow), not the account username (which doesn’t get used for much). The prefix is intentional but we know it’s ugly, one day we hope to come up with something better!

It's unlikely we'll get there in person from the UK, but we'd *dearly* love Manyfold to be a project at Writing Day at #WriteTheDocsBerlin2026; If you're a Manyfold fan, and are going, get in touch and let's talk!

It's not on the official schedule yet, but if you're at #EMFCamp, @npub1zps…43k4 will be talking about Manyfold at 13:30 on Sunday in the Bodgeham-on-Wye Parish Hall (aka Workshop 6). Come say hi! 😀

2026-07-13 14:25:31 GMT

Manyfold dev @npub1zps…43k4 will be at #EMFCamp this coming weekend! Grab hold of him to talk 3D printing, ActivityPub federation, self-hosting, or anything, tbh. Also, he will have stickers!

2026-07-06 11:18:54 GMT

If any of you folks are C++ devs and fancy a little project that would help us out...

we don't have Bambu yet, because (a) they're a bit walled-cloud about it all, and (b) @npub1zps…43k4 doesn't have one to try. But it's definitely a big one to get done, either via the developer mode connection or via https://bambuddy.cool

2026-06-19 12:20:53 GMT

The next release of Manyfold will include the ability to send GCODE and SL1 files (as appropriate) directly to printers via @npub17mn…mfy0, Klipper, PrusaLink and Odyssey.
It could really do with some pre-release testing against real machines, so if you'd like to try it out, swap to the `edge` tag, join the support channel (https://app.element.io/#/room/#manyfold-support:matrix.org
), and let us know if it works!
Or, if you want to help add another API, check the "good first issue" list at https://github.com/manyfold3d/manyfold/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3Aopen%20label%3A%22good%20first%20issue%22

locally with developer mode, or via their cloud?

2026-06-18 10:58:21 GMT

#3DPrinting folks! If your printer is networked, what API does it provide?
I've not included Octoprint or Klipper, because we already have those!

2026-06-17 13:10:26 GMT

- reply

there isn't at the moment, but some folks in the support channel (https://matrix.to/#/#manyfold-support:matrix.org) have discussed the need for one.
In general though, if you start with the default path template and enable "parse metadata from path", it should give you *something* usable which you can then reorganise by filtering the detected tags.
The support channel will be happy to guide more though, if you want.

2026-06-17 11:42:46 GMT

- reply

very very happy to clarify, it's important to challenge this stuff! Thank you!

2026-06-17 11:31:33 GMT

Manyfold is making the connection direct to the printer, browser isn't involved. So, if you were away from home and had access to Manyfold, you could still start a print. But it's all behind the appropriate authentication and policy checks, so attackers shouldn't be able to send anything to your printer.

2026-06-17 11:28:49 GMT

- reply

any other concerns it raises, do please let us know, we may not have thought of everything!

2026-06-17 11:28:02 GMT

- reply

you can configure printer connections in the settings, and then it will show a link for compatible file types.
At the moment it's just for admins, there will be good controls in place before other users can use it. Most likely we'll add a "printer" role that admins can grant to other users.
And it's totally on the user to be sure that the GCODE is physically compatible with the printer! We will add a confirmation dialog to make sure users know that!

2026-06-17 10:56:10 GMT

The next Manyfold release is gonna get... physical!
