For communicating locally, here in San Francisco, I want to be better at fluent Spanish.
Globally? I'd like to be better speaking and reading French.
Once I get better at those, I'd like to explore Germanic languages.
I would love to learn Navajo! Or any NM Pueblo language. I am humbled by the brilliance. I don't think I am capable. I wish I was. But I can dream to be.

2026-02-09 08:31:05 GMT

I don't quite know what to say to someone who is deep in an AI bubble.
My life has been all struggle and learning and building.
To sit next to someone who says " you tell claude what kind of app you want and it build's it for you". This someone has never written code, or knows what a data structure is, let alone when one might work better than another.
And she is making money from this crap.
UGh.!
If only I didn't have ethics or my brain. I could be super rich, if I just turned off.

I used to have some solid Medical Latin. Which helped me when ordering dinner in France and Italy.
But it's not enough. I need to think in another language. More languages.
I might seem to old to do such a thing, but I must learn to think in at least one other language. If I can do one, maybe I can do another?

2026-02-09 07:59:32 GMT

What are the tools out there for actually learning and practicing languages? I studied French for years, but I am still terrible at it.
I also had some Spanish formal learning, very briefly. I've lived all of my life around folks who spoke Spanish first.
The only reason why I can't speak Spanish as fluently as I speak English? The racism of our grandparents and parents.

As a woman, it took a lot to be included as one of the New Masters of Flash. I had to be extraordinary. I had to lean into creating Science Visualizations. Combining drawing with code.
And Amazon didn't list me as a co-author. It listed all of the other 10+ male co-authors, but specifically dropped my name and another co-author. Why? Because even back then, they said that tech-books with women's names don't sell as well.
So, I was erased.
Now, Adobe erases Flash/Animate.

2026-01-30 09:22:53 GMT

Why am I still "covid-cautious"? So many reasons.
1. Covid is not over.
2. The flu is horrific this year.
3. A local high school has closed because of a Tuberculosis outbreak.
4. I'm still a Cancer patient.
5. As a Cancer patient, I regularly spend time in a Cancer hospital. A lot of the people there, many of them small children, are in a more precarious stage of their Cancer treatment.
6. Our current WH doesn't believe in germs or modern medicine...constraining research and vaccines

Ok, I did use a library for this one for some of it, but it's a CSS library: css-doodle. https://css-doodle.com/
I made these flowers with my little "Flowermaker" toy, which uses css-doodle, and saved them as PNG files.
https://artatomic.itch.io/flowermaker
Then I loaded them into <img> tags in an html doc, and positioned them randomly in a div.

Ok, so yes, my Cancer Tumor is gone. I got lucky, that at the time I had my diagnosis for stage 3 colon cancer my case was border line. I did not go through Chemo. There were new tests that could test for any sign that my tumor had metastisized and spread to other organs. I still get these, and other blood tests and CT scans. Still.
And I'm still working to regain by physical strength, after having been starved by that tumor for years.
I'm still fighting and working to be stronger.

Oh great! More messing with the USPS. Not sure how bad this might turn out, but it doesn't look good.
Here's what the shipping company I use for me shop sent:
"Starting in February, USPS Post Offices will begin auditing packages more strictly for payment before accepting them. As part of this change, USPS representatives will be more diligent about confirming that postage payment has been fully processed at the time of drop-off."

It's dark and dreary outside, so I'm going with a bright sunny flower for today's #inkyDays drawing. Oh! And I used a shimmering orange ink. It's lovely.

For today's #DecembArt post, I'm sharing an old project that was also tasty: candy made to look like a cross section of a cell.

Holy Fuck! All these dudes saying the Waymo freakout (over shut down traffic lights), is a "Cool experiment!"
Fuck these dudes! This is a real city, with real people, and some of them need ambulances that these fucked up rob-taxis may have blocked.
This is a city, full of real living and breathing people. Not some simulation or petri dish.
Fuck off with your stupid shit!
Black outs are bad enough, without tech-bro shit fucking things up even more!

Wow! I got stuck in this massive blackout, here in San Francisco, on my way home from a day at the art event. No functioning traffic lights at big intersections, so every thing was alternate feed like stop signs.
That would be been fine, except for all of the shut-down Waymos that real drivers had to get around.

For Today's #DecembArt, I'm sharing a very early piece of mine. It's made from Cell organelle diagrams that I had created for an educational piece.

For today's #DecembArt, I'm sharing a piece I created in a past #Genuary challenge. If I remember correctly, the challenge was to create a pattern for a rug.

Playing with a winter floral pattern for today's #inkyDays drawing. I liked it so much that I also tried it on watercolor paper, too.
