General curious question about naming conventions in #Rust:
I have a trait that represents a thing, lets say a node in a tree, so I would call the trait "Node". In many places I would use the trait via a smart pointer, for example a Arc<dyn Node>. For convenience I'll create a type alias like "type ??? = Arc<....>".

I would appreciate some #Bevy advice. I gave this a try using an older version quite a while ago, but was not very successful. I read that font handling and rendering was improved, as hopefully my Bevy and #Rust knowledge did too.
I would like to render arbitrary (single line) 2D text to the screen and make it clickable. I think that the UI tooling is not the way to go, because moving the text around, rotate it, ... will be part of the core of the game.
Could somebody give me a starting point?

I started a new attempt to access my local @nprofile…850x bridge using #Rust via https://docs.rs/imap/2.4.1/imap/fn.connect.html
When calling connect I get a TlsHandshake error, referring to function "ssl3_get_record" and reason "wrong version number".
Can somebody give me a hint what might be the problem? I don't find much hints on the web and many tell me, that this might be a "misleading" error message, that hides something else.
I exported the cert of the bridge and added it to my builder.

Ich war kürzlich bei David Schraven, dem Gründer von Correctiv, auf einem Vortrag und würde ihn gerne ins #Saarland holen. Die Kosten sind kein Problem, aber als Privatperson ist das aus diversen Gründen kaum umsetzbar. D.h. ich bräuchte einen seriösen Verein, eine Stiftung, ... die sich gegen Rechts engagiert und einen Vortragsraum für 50 Leute oder so zur Verfügung hat. Die Mühlen offizieller Stellen mahlen viel zu langsam. Für andere Vorschläge wäre ich dankbar.

I have a Backtrace instance in my #Rust code and would like to display the "inner" 5-10 frames in the console in a nice and readable way.
I found various discussions why it is hard to add this option to the default Display implementation and I found some very outdated crates tackling the problem. But no maintained solution.

Die Schule meiner Tochter will ja die Mitglieder ihrer Schulkonferenz geheim halten. Ich hatte eine IFG-Anfrage gestellt, genervt und habe eben die Namen der Elternvertreter*innen bekommen. Also die Vornamen und den Anfangsbuchstaben des Nachnamens. "Paul B." ist z.B. ein Elternvertreter. Ich habe jetzt auch schriftlich, dass die Vertreter*innen nicht mit den Vertretenen kommunizieren wollen und daher keine Kontaktdaten herausgeben möchten.

Ok, da bin ich wohl gescheitert. Ich war gerade auf einem Elternabend und hatte angesprochen, dass die Schule konsequent gegen das Schulmitbestimmungsgesetzt verstößt, also unter anderem die Rechte der Jugendlichen mit Füßen tritt. Schule und Ministerium haben das bestätigt.
Was ich nicht auf meiner Bingokarte hatte, war die Reaktion wirklich aller anwesenden Eltern: "Ja, und?"

I have a #Python file that does not have a *.py extension. I would like to tell my #NeoVim that it is a Python script, so that it can do proper syntax highlighting.
I know that I achieve this by adding some special comments to the file, that are interpreted by NeoVim. But I don't remember how to do it and how the feature is called.
All the involved terms are bad for asking Google. Can somebody give me a hint please?

Using #Django I would like to upload a Json file and create database entries from it. So basically an import of structured data into my data model.
Is it possible to integrate that into the Django admin UI? Just an additional page with an upload form? Like "Create model X from this file"?
The admin UI is quite nice, powerful and flexible, but I could not figure out how to do that. So I assume I'm missing something obvious?!

I'm a regular #Neovim user, probably a slightly advanced one. I would like to dig more into "misusing" NeoVim as a TUI plattform. I'm a developer, have decent Lua basics and am happy to read docs. But I'm somewhat missing the big mental picture how people tweak NeoVim for such use cases. Can somebody provide a nice starting point? Simple plugins that might be nice starting examples?

@npub129g…4kwg I strongly disagree. Obviously you have to start with one language. 😉 And yes, you should try to get some deeper understanding in at least one or a few.
But there is absolutely no need to master your first language before looking for other ones.
In my opinion very few people get the difference between a theoretical concept and its concrete implementation without learning multiple languages.
We have way to many developers thinking that OO is identical to what Java does. 😉
