@nprofile…xlhv Been quite a while to be honest, probably on the order of months. I’m also on meds, and have had some success with therapists in the past, but don’t have one now. Maybe that’s the move. Just so much dang work to find a good one it feels like.

I’ve been watching a great documentary on the Wu-Tang Clan, which made me realize I’d never really given 36 Chambers a “proper” listen. I gave it a proper listen last night. Idea: An all day breakfast restaurant that serves breakfasts from around the world. Call it “International Diner”.
There’d be staples that are always on the menu, but then each month would feature a new country.
Wouldn’t it be cool to eat the same breakfast they do in Sudan? Korea? Sweden? I’d love to try them all!

Thinking ahead to summer projects, I think I’ll try to find a lawnmower engine to rebuild. It would be a good way to learn some fundamentals of engine repair at a manageable scale.
It’d be fun to just get a car to wrench on, but I don’t think that’ll be feasible again for another year or two.

I love deck building games, and my favorite by far is Ascension.

I’ve noticed this play out at work a lot for me. I’ll have an idea for something that will “make things better”. The powers that be will then request I outline what metrics will be used to determine if it’s “better” or not. And I immediately shut down.
In this context a big part of it is a feeling of mistrust from leadership — I’d rather they trust that I know what I’m talking about — but also just setting that specific goal for how to know if the work is a “success”… it’s deflating.

Something I’m learning about myself lately is that, not only does setting goals not motivate me, it usually demotivates me to work toward the goal.
If I set a goal to read 10 books in a year, I probably would read 0. But if I just don’t set a goal, I could read 5–10 no problem.
Does anyone else work this way? I’m trying to understand it.
