Interesting.
Is there any way you can chart some data somehow that shows the improvement along side when LLMs got good?
Thing is LLMs got sure usable 'bout Jan this year, but I think they were capable to help with reproducibility task quite some months before.

I have compressed it very aggresively. I wont do it less than 700mb.
I do not want to setup anything.
I dont want to spend time configuring things, I wan to spend time filming things.
Learning is not a problem I am very technical, and I have LLMs, I just want something that works.
And plus now I have this VPS, and other things and now i need to worry about bandwidth CNDs etc.

This is the 3rd consecutive day I have been trying to post my 12 minute video natively here.
Still could not get it to worked.
Primal wants me to pay 1 year upfront, nop.
Nostr.build, 450mb file limits, so not usable, also pay 1 year upfront.
My video is 12 min 700mb.
Is there really no way to do this?

Hey Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to write all of this up.
I am quite familiar with host nostr works, but context is always appreciated.
So the short answer is pay for better relaying. Got it.
Things is that every single person that talks about nostr talks in this very positive way, but no one ever mentions this, so I must imagine they are light users, which makes sense, most users will be light users.
Re primal specifically since you mentioned it, last week when I launched a very important project, it did not work. You push a button and did nothing, so I doubt that was because of not using premium tier.
But clearly this was just an unlucky coincidence and they had infra problems.
But clearly the main annoyance is the delta between my expectations and reality.
But in my defence the expectation set by people is that its almost 1:1 on x.

So now I am using Jungle and Primal, and some notifications show up on one but not the other.
Also both laggy, and i have to press buttons more than once sometimes.
I get that there is no consensus for clients, but this is very unusable.
It also seems to me that both clients could try to discover posts more aggressively.
Is this a not-enough-resources-for-servers/relays problem, or something else?
Please, I am not interested in getting told how great this is, or how it’s not a problem for some of you, or that I should build it myself, or any equivalent defensive bullshit.
I am someone who uses social media heavily, and I put a lot of effort and money into creating content, so I want an app that actually works.
In fact, it needs to work at least 10x better than X for me to switch.
I am genuinely asking these questions because I want to understand what is causing these problems.
There is no way I am the only person that has these problems and is bothered by them.

Every thing is choppy and laggy.

I honestly do not understand how people use nostr every day and claim they dont need twitter.
EVERYTHING is broken, nothing works.
Btw, i am not a hater, I used nostr from the 1st ever damus client on mobile and have tried ever since.
But if you need to use social media to distribute ideas to people, this is unreliable.
Why is this not fixable?

I said I had problems with nostr. I could see the feed but could not post anything.
I was using primal in web login with nsec.
Switched to nostr.com now this works with no problems.
I don't get why is this hard to do?

I kinda developed a habbit of visually parsing the 1st 2 sentances, and now I ignore them (with chatGPT)
Interesting is that Grok does not do this, and it's way more disagreable than any other LLMs I tried. In fact if I say something that is obviously incorrect it will point that out, where as chatGPT it's like rationalising a way to agree with me.
As for using other LLMs they were pretty much unusable(for the tasks I was doing), and local ones similary not smart enough.

The problem is storing it where no one can take it down.
And cost is a problem if you want to scale something to 100s milions of users.

I don't think you can incentivise people to store your videos, mostly because it scales WAY worse than storing the blockchain.
The main thing about poting videos you want them to be live years from now, and even if cost is low, mental cost is a problem.
We definetly have the tech for this, the problem is how do you make this in a thing that makes sense.
(bitcoin was in a similar position before it was created)

It is still not obvious to me how you can guarantee the video will be up 1 year from now.
And if I would have to pay to incentivise seeders to keep my video up, or I would have to seed it, its unrealistic to think people will use that.
The reason YouTube pickedup is because you post and forget, and most people are ok with the trade-off.

I am not very familiar with the spec, but is the spec not refering strictly to signing/linking keys to a video?
The question still remains who will host the video?
The data has to come from someones server.
And if you want to offer experiance comparable to YouTube, those servers need to:
1) be fast
2) content will be persistent, like 5 months from now.
Futher more if you have 10k people using this the storage and bandwith scales with this number.
So still not obvious to me how exactly that can work.

But the main question is how is the hosting going to be handled?
I mean you need a lot of server with lots of bandwith to deliver a decent experience.
Also heavy compression on videos is a bad things, no one enjoys videos with artefacts.

It CAN work as an editor, but it wont allow for superior functionality as premiere, is what the guy is saying in video.
In fact it points out it has very rudimentary color-grading, audio features, which is a must have if you are using it to edit videos filmed on a DSLR.
Also the last section of the video that goes over the BADs makes a good case for this.
But still learned a few things about it.

At the time NIST & ANSI recommended secp256R1.

Did you know Bitcoin Core got it's 1st fee estimator in February 2015 with Bitcoin Core 0.10.0
Before this fees were hardcoded, and changed with new versions to reflect market conditions.
