the problem with putting a robot character in a story in order to explore questions like, "are they alive?", is that they will always end up alive in the story. not because that's the answer to the underlying question, but because the reader is already breathing life into all of the characters. none of the characters are actually alive, but they all become alive as the story is read

critters that would live in/around my house if I were a Ghibli character:
- blobby guy under the stove who slorps up the crumbs I drop while cooking
- dust sprites (cousins to soot sprites ofc)
- little yeast spirits who bubble out of the sourdough starter
- fluffy hamster sized guy who's all hair & snout, comes out of the floor vent in search of the food my bird throws on the floor
- trio of tiny goblin folk who operate the HVAC system in order to catch dust sprites in the filter (& eat them)

I finally put my 'Triangle Runes' numeral system up on my website last night!
This is a numbering system that uses the three points of a triangle to represent values from 0 to 999 in a single glyph/rune. It's inspired by Cistercian numerals, but deliberately reduced to 1,000 values per glyph, to make it easier to string glyphs together & represent even larger numbers.

I guess this is a conspiracy theory -- although it's honestly just an extension of what already happens, so I feel like it's not even farfetched -- but my theory on AI hype is that the big money is not investing to try and create the perfect chat bot or image generator. they're not spending trillions on data centers so we can generate emails & code & videos. the real goal is aggregating all the data they're collecting on us & using it to manipulate people at scale

Odd Little World is, in my opinion, one of my life's grander achievements -- squeezing a whole tabletop civilization game into a 16-page minizine.

the XP I wanna try cause I have like a GB of windows-compiled VST plugins that would be fun to use & won't work on linux
