"All strong societies have a strong moral basis. Any study of the history of economic development shows the close relationship between moral and economic factors. Countries and groups that achieve successful development do so partly because they have an ethic that encourages the economic virtues of self-reliance, hardwork, family, and social responsibility, high savings, and honesty. This is also true of social subgroups."

Going forward, I will always be amongst the builders. Builders of the real world. Builders of civilization. Builders who believe that there is always tomorrow and surely it will always come. I can not find any community that is as hard at work to build stuffs like bitcoiners. Of course bitcoiners built Nostr. Bitcoin and Nostr two sides of the same coin. Real people are building meaningful stuffs, making the world meaningful again. This are the kind of people one should "waste" his precious time with. Honestly, fiat system is sickening. It sucks out one's energy without replacing. There is simply no hope in fiat land.
It no longer matters how "wealthy" I am in fiat land, I've come to realize how meaning all that is. Now I just want to live a far more meaningful and fulfilling life. I just want to get married, have children, and spend the rest of my life building meaningful stuffs that will outlive me for centuries to come. There is no second best community in this whole universe to belong to than the Bitcoin/Nostr.

I've been learning about Bitcoin for the past 5 years and still not done. It's very painful for me to be unlearning all the fiat nonsense I was taught. But it's worth it. I prefer the pain of learning Bitcoin and thereafter having a better life than wandering in an endless, bottomless rat hole of fiat. Fiat life is hell on Earth — depression and anxiety in the face of pleasure.

The current state of the web is choking me. I can't breath without Nostr+ Sats. My profound gratitude goes to all the FOSS builders around the world. Thank you for your efforts to making the world a better place. Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge with me so that I can learn. Indeed I feel blessed, and I don't take it for granted. Good morning Nostriches

So, economics, life in general, is a game. The game is called transaction. It could be played with oneself or with others. This game is characterized by time that should be served to every player in equal amount and money that can be acquired with the time given. In other words, "time is money, and money is time." This means the quality of your life depends on money.
But what if this game can be rigged? What if there are some players who could cheat and not allow others to do the same? Knowing fully well that this game has been rigged against you, what will would you do? (This rigged game/money is called fiat)
Also, imagine that you've discovered a new game/money. would you still continue to play the old rigged game? (This new game/money is called bitcoin).
Life is a monetary game that humans can never stop playing. Fiat is an unsound money that causes chaos and break relationships. Bitcoin is a sound monetary game that organizes the world in good shape. If this game of life can't be stopped, and if at all this game is essential for human growth and flourishing, then bitcoin is the kind of game worth playing and...dying for.

Most people on centralized social media are always whinning and complaining about censorship and lack of privacy. They want the platforms to change (which they won't). Unfortunately, these people will not dare to let go of the "conveniences." Maybe they are too addicted and hooked. But they just won't accept the responsibilities of self-sovereignty and embrace bitcoin and Nostr. Unfortunately again, pain will lead them home.

I just can't think of doing anything else other than Bitcoin in order to make the world a better. From my perspective, Bitcoin is the new mission. And, I'm already on my way.

True.
I think the major disadvantage of fiat money is its centralized nature. Which means whoever is in charge can inflate it to infinite. Unfortunately trusting humans with money production has to always end up in disappointment. Bitcoin came into existence due to the failures of fiat money. And at this point, there is no going back to fiat anymore.
This is how I see it: bitcoin is a form of money fit for people living under tyranny, the developing countries. The dollar, euro, and yen, are a far better fiat currencies than, say, the Naira, Kwacha, Cedi, etc. In other words, bitcoin is money suitable for use in adversarial environments. And, majority of the world's population are living in these environments.

"people who want to do cool things often" follow the money "to America because it's easier to do cool things" there close to the MONEY PRINTER. The current state of the U.S. is more of an arbiter for rent-seeking than innovation. It's more of a shitcoin and shitcoiners having great time with their VCs while the rest of the is left broken. Have you even dare to factor in the Cantillon effect happening with the dollar? Before there was America for innovation there was the rest of the world. Before there was America for "greatness" there was the rest of the world.
All that the world needs right now is truth, an honest money. It seems that your financial privilege is blinding you from seeing the forces at work as to why "people who want to do cool things often" have to follow the money to America. My dear, let's fix the money and fix the world. And you may never have to see floods of entrepreneurs flocking to America simply because they want to do "cool things." The change is already happening and you are not even seeing it.

The beautiful thing about Bitcoin and Nostr is that these protocols don't force themselves on you. You choose them because they are the best tools for you. Are not bees one of the most peaceful organisms on the planet, yet, one of the deadliest? Bees live peacefully until someone tries to disrupt that peace by attempting to take or steal what rightfuly belongs to them—the honey. Then and then, do the bees descend healvily in their number on that person with their deadly stingers. In other words, bees are naturally alergic to theft. Bees simply want to be left alone to cooperatively build their lives with one another.
Now, compare the behavior of bitcoiners (a.k.a bitcoin maximalists) with that of bees. Think of the thieves as governments and central bankers. Only that with bitcoiners, the "honey" (bitcoin) is impossible to reach, not to talk of being taken away.

From personal experience, being part of the Bitcoin community gives you a lot of peace of mind. And, the implications of the combination of Bitcoin and Nostr are simply mind-blowing. Never in history was there so much power for the individual. I wish I could, with a snap of my fingers, brainwash every single person living under tyranny to understand this reality. But, the Bitcoin journey was designed for the individual—a journey that must be undertaken deliberately.

Most people grew up believing that life is an unfair game that must be played in order to seperate winners from losers. in other words, "survival of the fittest." Most people never think of the possibility of a world in which everyone is a winner depending on his/her input. This distorted mindset has been extremely reinforced by fiat monetary system where few people become winners meanwhile the majority people become losers. The result? Chaos, virtually everywhere fiat money touches. Bitcoin is money that counters fiat. It helps strike a balance and rewards everyone accordingly, based on their input. In other words, Bitcoin makes everyone a winner, based on his/her effort. And, this is what makes the world peaceful and a better place worth living.

When governments say" bitcoin is for criminals", always remember that they are talking about themselves (a.k.a. legalized criminals). In other words, they are saying, "we are the only ones that should own bitcoin. Not you, the individual citizens." Please, try not to get confused, thinking that they are actually referring to some criminals on the streets. They say negative things about bitcoin for a reason—to prevent citizens from bitcoin. Imagine, in the beginning, if bitcoin were discovered first by Wall Street, "good things" would have been said about it.
At this point, we must understand that "bitcoin reserve" is for criminals. And, maybe this is also a means to "bail out" nation-states to prevent their inevitable collapse. This is like trying to extend the iron-grip of fiat on the citizens.
Actually, the truth is hidden in plain site. The elites are very, very intellingent and wise. They don't do what they say, they act what they don't say. They buy and hold bitcoin while you buy and hold ETFs.

STAY HUMBLE, STACK SATS
There are no shortcuts in Bitcoin. Bitcoin is scary. Why? Because it is a system that is completely new and operates in the digital realm and exacts its effects in the physical realm. Bitcoin, unlike fiat, is many things coupled together into one piece. Call it a puzzle.
Bitcoin is, unlike fiat, among many things: economics, money, computer science, philosophy, sociology, psychology, game theory, physics, geography, and so on. Now, imagine breaking down these fields into various components and still have to learn them even further deep down. This is scary, especially to someone who must have gone through the fiat educational system. It will take a curious and couragious mind to take this Bitcoin's difficult path, unlearning most of the fiat trash and the way. Imagine a man with all his BSC and PhD, going down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, unlearning and learning down the hole. This is scary. It's even more scarier to a man without formal education.
But here is the best thing about bitcoin: it is a NETWORK. A network with it's own ingrained sets of rules. Rules without rulers. In this network, you can focus solely on that which interests you. Solve problems that are peculiar to you and your environment. As long as you remain in the network, you'll be fine. The best antidote for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt, is to remain within the network, stacking sats and educating yourself. It takes humility to do this!

2024-12-21 12:11:48 GMT

When it comes to bitcoin, one thing I seriously enjoy doing, besides stacking sats, is educating MYSELF. YES MYSELF! In the current market noise and clown world confusion(yes, FUD), nothing is more important than the sats, the Bitcoin network, and I. And, in actual sense, my personal bitcoin education is more important than simply the sats. The sat is just the "thing."

"The contention was essentially about four somewhat interrelated issues:
1. The level of blockspace available in each Bitcoin block Essentially, whether the eventual state should consist of surplus capacity available in the blocks, or consistently full blocks.
2. How to modify the rules of the Bitcoin protocol - Whether the rules on the validity of Bitcoin blocks should change relatively easily, or whether they should be more robust and only change in exceptional circumstances, with broad support from all interested parties.
3. The significance of the nodes of ordinary users - The extent to which, if any, validating nodes of the ordinary end users had a say in enforcing Bitcoin’s protocol rules.
4. Time preferences - Whether Bitcoin was like a tech startup which should prioritise gaining market share in the short term; or if it was a long-term project, a new global money, and one should think decades ahead when making decisions."

“O! Ye that love mankind! Ye that dare oppose not only tyranny but the tyrant, stand forth! Every spot of the old world is overrun with oppression. Freedom hath been hunted around the globe. Asia and Africa have long expelled her. Europe regards her as a stranger, and England hath given her warning to depart. O! receive the fugitive, and prepare in time an asylum for mankind.”

"The national currencies are affected by forces which are beyond your knowledge or control. They are managed by committees serving the governments issuing them. The people on these committees speak in a jargon that is not only incomprehensible to most people, but unbearably dull even to those who do understand it. Everyone is affected by them, but most people will not bother to learn to understand them. They manage the currency in the national interest, which is not always the same thing as your interest. They can change the rules about how the currency can be spent you can use them or increase the government’s supply. [5] It is usually not possible to predict what they will do, at least over long time spans."

In Nigeria🇳🇬, especially in the hardcore North, life is "amazing." But don't get me wrong, though. When I say "amazing", actually I'm referring to severe poverty and pain and hopelessness:
✓ Hyperinflation
✓ Severe hunger
✓ Insecurity (kidnappings, banditry, etc)
✓ Total electricity blackout
✓ Decayed healthcare system
✓ Decayed educational system
✓ e.t.c.
Nigeria has been gradually plunging into the "dark ages." There is simply no country here: just survival of the fittest and jungle justice.

"...Bitcoin will be banned, many times, in many places. But a ban is an open admission of practical and moral failure and is arguably the best advertisement of all..."
This is encouraging. Thank you Alex for sharing.
