This app seems to actually be the best thing I've ever seen in terms of transcription on a Mac, period. Absolutely insane. The user interface is just so easy and all the options are just right there without being cluttered or ugly.
Behold the power of AI being used for good!

Though you're likely correct that it could make some users uncomfortable, bots or artificial users invading my server would make my users more uncomfortable, and hCaptcha is more and more vulnerable to AI vision models.
In this case (and since Mastodon moderation is still horrendous) choosing to carry the big rock or close your instance to registration are the two options you don't want to have to use, but here we are.

That’s the point; even if you block ads, there’s still less total results on the page for it.
I think we are just overly accustomed to the ability to sort zillions of websites in the blink of an eye.
This issue relates to Mastodon: if we want to rid ourselves of Big Search, I think there’s a temporary need to accept the imperfections, like a 2 second search window.
But maybe it’d be better if they had a fun animation while they search. UX!

it’s really easy to speed up search results on any search engine. Just have the search engine put the advertising first and have them occupy search results! You can make search results up to 80% faster if you put the pre-sorted ads first!

Sorry to hear the fedi hate train rolled through - I only heard of this project as an aside in the past, sounded like an interesting experiment.
People are weird about social media. Like, if you don't want people to see your posts, why not just, I dunno, write a journal?
I remember when Bridgy was being aggressed upon during their initial public comment. God forbid a cross-poster existed to join communities and remind people that Mastodon exists. Advocacy became hated. Just wild.

It's not nuts; it's just how the internet is designed.
First, the proposal is to 'change the mailing address without redirecting mail'. Imagine the postal service trying to forward hundreds of thousands of dailup's daily mail to a place it doesn't know.
"But I can inform ALL the people who mail me!" Now tens of thousands of senders must update *all* the data in their databases just for dialup?
Having a unique TLD has upsides & downsides. The diff between cafe and party is $13. Keep it.

A lot of these server laws coming from countries are for companies. They define it specifically in their laws for some reason, and since most of Mastodon is being operated by hobbiests that don’t take in any income, don’t ask for any, and aren’t registered as a company, I would argue that at least they are immune from the server side versions of these laws.
I’m not a lawyer.

Don't forget to use Fedicate to report abusive users 😉
(Once I can figure out how to do that...)

It’s against YouTube ToS redistribute YouTube videos unless the video author provides it elsewhere for that purpose.

Yeah I just realized that's what's going on, but that 'privacy' just makes it Oh! Exploitable! (And honestly if that's how it's going to be, that bot is best banned because I don't want to deal with Mr. Big Server's reports).

Just got a report from @npub1qk2…0d5s against [@pixelworld_ai](https://aipub.social/@pixelworld_ai ) simply reporting J's entire recent messages. It's:
1) Weird
2) Baseless
3) Hiding behind a bot
4) Suspendable on my server, so I suspended Mastodon.online's shit bot.

I hear this, and I for one have stopped paying Adobe for their crimes against their own community.
Plenty of near-like products thanks to the open source FOSS community exist and they need more love, like Krita.
Let’s make CEO wallets ache.

2024-08-18 16:38:57 GMT

The baseless accusations of a hear-me.social member against the aipub.social instance, which called to defederate the community to #mastoadmin, has been recalled.
Accusations included “stealing usernames and passwords through IP address tracking”, which anyone with networking knowledge knows this is foolishness, but we can’t be assured every admin understands this as nonsense & would work to “protect” their users.
NEVER take anything posted here as truth. As an admin, ask questions.

oh yeah, I see all the begging to be paid by this hobbiest community.
And yet here you are, ignoring my entire post and still standing on your soapbox. What say you to Adobe? What say you to corporations who are the real problem, and not some little Federated instance simply having fun on ActivityPub?
Meanwhile, your avatar is still not cited. Walk the walk.

2024-08-18 15:40:24 GMT

@npub1aur…wvx0 As far as AIPUB, their only “crime” is generating AI imagery as a hobby. “Stealing usernames and passwords through IP address tracking“? You BETTER have some really SOLID proof to make that kind of baseless accusation.
If that’s your barrier to federation, hearsay, I have really bad news for you.
Because of this, I can’t take your first, serious, accusation seriously.
You’re saying “for the good of the community” and have no proof? Bro, what? #mastoadmin

lmao did *you* steal that avatar you have there? I don’t see art citations anywhere.
If you want to cry about AI, why don’t you go ride Adobe or other *corporations* that are abusing and monetizing a *hobby* for many?
Because that’s too hard I take. You sound like RIAA during Napster, suing children for downloading Destiny’s Child.

This is pretty neat. I like it. Can you add hashtags to it for the major city if it's within, say, 24 hours of the wave? Might be actually useful as a warning system.
I'm sure some may not like that idea, but sometimes lives are on the line.

If so, that documentation is *fuckin' horrible.*

Mastodon has no plans on expand the content cache to feature retaining “favorited” posts. In short, when the cache wipes history, your and users’ favorites will go too; like dust in the wind, and that’s now considered “by design”.
What an awful design.
