@nprofile…52nc thanks for sharing. A lot of meaning gets lost in writing, therefore it's super important to try to look at every response and comment in the nicest possible interpretation. It's very hard though...
And I know, there are some duchebags out there, but most of us are really caring and willing to help one another. I think we miscommunicate and/or misinterpret the message more often than express true hostility. That's why it's important to take a deep breath before replying :)

My main profile is free of Google :)))
It's really boring phone, I get notifications mostly when private space is active...

@nprofile…52nc @nprofile…xjwa I went to sleep hoping I will find and answer. Frankly I don't know... I'm not trained in computational sciences, switched to bioinformatics from biology. So I can only share from my experience. There is definitely some personal preference. I tried Perl, Python, R, Java, C, C++, Ruby, Julia, Go, Lisp and Rust. I hated them all expect Python, because only Python feels "natural" to me. But I know some of my friends feel like that about C++, Java, R, Rust or Lisp 🫣

Starting in bioinformatics and machine learning will be easier with Python than any other language, because of rich ecosystem. Languages themselve evolve, but entire world around then as well. So what works well today, may be not optimal in a couple of years...

There is a very real risk that this conflict will end with Iran as the de facto master of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, having demonstrated that no one can stop them from determining by force which ships pass and which ships cannot. The issue is that ... 25% of the world’s oil (refined and crude), 20% of its liquid natural gas and around 20% of the world’s fertilizer passes through the Strait of Hormuz which links the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean.
... Iran can thus threaten the whole thing and can do so with cheap, easy to conceal, easy to manufacture systems.

Guido van Rossum: I am definitely not looking forward to an AI-driven future. I’m not worried about AI wanting to kill us all, but I see too many _people_ without ethics or morals getting enabled to do much more damage to society with less effort...
I hope that Python’s legacy will reflect its spirit of grassroots and worldwide collaboration based on equity and respect rather than power and money, and of enabling “the little guy” to code up dream projects.

So far very good! Installation was smooth, configuration took a bit of time, but added #privacy, #security and control is likely worth it.

This day brought some of the news I'd never expect to see in my life. Come on, seeing seig heil at inauguration of American president? In central Europe we grew up looking up to freedom and democracy ideals coming from there. What's worse, some of my closest family and friends explain or apologise or even look forward this administration. We're fucked!

In Spain you get free healthcare (free as paid by the state, which means taxpayers) once you have permanent residence address. Your family or working status doesn't matter. Every resident deserves a public healthcare.
