The problem as you noticed is that internet nodes follow a contract on which packets to relay, traffic rules are strictly hierarchical.
Solving problems with supernodes will increase resource requirements indefinitely.
Prior works that provide overlay routing and transport are: TOR/onion and Batman-router.
DHTs are very efficient for service discovery, but tricky to establish a link.
My suggestion... hmm. If you want to hear it, ask.

A batch of V-modems arrived the other day.
I'm still haven't reactivated my GitHub, so latest commits can be found here https://git.sr.ht/~telamohn/snail
Current status: flash block storage, SWAP protocol, negentropy sync implemented.
They communicate with eachother but the js-websocket wrapper needs to be ported in order to read/post notes using a phone.
A prototype skin has also been designed, haven't sent it to the printshop cause it dosent sit right yet.
If anyone is interested in aiding an IRL version of Nostr using tiny portable relays, speak up! :-)

I switched out coffee for green tea and jasmin, it has some amounts of natural caffeine that pacifies the receptors but doesn't give jitters.
Also reuse the same leaves for the second cup or just pour out the first brew into the sink to dodge the caffeine entirely.
The second brew should have a smooth taste and none of the bitterness - granting a good start on the day 🍵

Personligen la jag det här projektet på is, för efter en runda feedback så förstod jag att nostr har en hel del mognad kvar att gå igenom, innan det är redo att fylla något annat syfte än mordors guldsmedja.
Men februari är knappt slut och bara den här veckan sprang jag på 4 personer som sa eller tänkte på ett sätt som fick mig att önska att jag kunde följa deras resa här.
Som tur var så hade jag inga kort på mig, men det finns ett konkret behov för öppet språk i vårt land, en kanal med lite lägre bandbredd som ger oss möjligheten att slappna av på ett sätt som inte går på de andra socmedierna. En plats där man uppmuntras att tänka själv.
Så nu har jag stoppat tre kort i plomboken.
Det är tyvärr allt jag kan göra.
För man kan inte göra allting själv.

Nostr är ett embryo till socialt nätverk och kommunikationsinfrastruktur.
Det är inte en platform så som många är vana vid, för nätverket ägs av de aktörer som driver så kallade "reläer" och det fina är att vem som hellst får starta ett relä och utan monopol och med fri konkurrens.
I dagsläget är nätverket en salig röra av appar och nybyggarkultur.
Men med lite villja och kanske samarbete så kan du terraforma en del av nostr att se ut och fungera så som du vill för att prova idéer på liten skala utan startavgifter eller mellanhänder - ordet är fritt.

I ditched NAN and hacked the wifi beacons to contain relay/node data.
And now I'm stuck on configuring TCP/IP for a whole day.
IPv6 linklocal nets seems like my last hope, the scope/zone parameter seems to what SO_BINDINTERfACE didn't.
Basically when i ran the tests on IPv4 the nodes associated with eachother but the TCP client connections seemed to prefer connecting to their own localhosts instead of eachother.
This was supposed to be the easy part! 🤦‍♂️

Hey I don't know you, but before you go.
Tis is not a problem with nostr.
Lists like these are constantly being built and sold behind closed doors, except those lists have a lot more nightmare fuel and end up in the hands of things worse than what lurks on darknets.
It's a design flaw in the Internet.
nostr is just being transparent about the problem.
So um.. The only real solution is to leave the Internet and enjoy IRL, at least until a replacement emerges.

I've been working a lot, machine learning is kinda stupid/fun, minus the low grade professors trying to steal my gig - go find your own hustle! it's not my fault you we're busy bullying each other in school while other people worked and learned. I delivered a vlog before week-end - client calls me back today, the experiment is still running. Nice
Anywhoo a few days ago, I woke up late in the afternoon. And a peculiar postcard was lying in the box. The cover shows a cheerful woman in vintage clothing, happily holding a sign saying "depression"..

Some half a lifetime ago I went through a rough patch. It's ok. I traveled, searched, developed comfort-allergy 'ya know - standard issue.
I met a girl at a festival, she wore goofy Harry Potter glasses and an alcohol tolerance that i do not possess. But what really caught my eye, she was using a Nokia, not a Samsung nor eyephone but a Nokia. Impressive.
So I walked up to her and asked "How the heck do you survive without a smartphone?"
"Easy! No notification-stress, no advertisement, no constant search for dopamine and no screaming ego"
I was a little bit dumbstruck, I knew what she was talking about.. I had just finished my own voluntary offline year. But this chick right in front of me, she was the first individual I had met IRL who described that calm and peace - no way i'm telling her that.
Instead I said "So wait, monochrome screen, no internet.. how do you share pictures with friends? Printouts through snail-mail??"
"I have a laptop :)"
We hung out, she's fun, more easy going than me, but that joke turned into reality..
We've been exchanging letters for a couple of years now..
Don't get me wrong, not 💌 really, but something else - I don't think figuring that out is important to either of us.
The latency is horrible and the throughput abyssmal. I think our combined yearly efforts yield two dispatches each.
Oh yeah poststamps are about $4 a mark now. Wierd.
Anywhoo I let the postcard sit on the table for a few days - and just finished writing a reply.
I should be able to seal and send within a month and I hope I give it one last read before I do.
But the point is, snail mail and particularly attachments are really fun:
You can post random things you pick up during travels.
You can draw a qr-code by hand and pray it'll translate, write your reply on the back of a receipt.
You can even draw a picture of ... you have artistic freedom.
The important part is to take your time and do everything as slowly as you possibly can.
This time i'm attaching a mixtape. haha.

The original question is valid but a bit futuristic in this ownership obsessed world:

Short answer: "No - You can not."
Given modern tools we're already running at max decency, all future changes will take nostr one step closer to centralization, so just slow down.

Git, the tool installed on your machine is an oldschool consensus free decentralized Blockchain.
It is decentralized because it works offline and does not govern who you may or may not remote with.
The pull and push commands however are prepetually stuck in status WIP - why? Cause there's no funding into legitimate research.
So by cloning the nips repo, you become a FULL_NODE, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
That's the beauty of it.
I have some attempts at running git over DHTs/swarms, it's fun but not as easy as it sounds. For now, just clone and wait for the network plugin that you like to emerge.
Everyone archiving the same legacy will merge with you regardless of transport.

I'm convinced the main reason why nostr fails to grow is the strong association to bitcoin.
#nostr is a separate entity, that has nothing to do with monetary transactions. Atleast that's the way i see it.
I've been around for about 9 months now.
I've talked to normies and their leaders, the demographics seem '90s to '80s.
People are generally friendly, but things always get stiff when you don't echo the gospel.
I wish for better user awareness between purple and orange, you can't have both censorship resistance and a bitcoin-pop-contest.
Truth and capital does not blend well. :'-)
I wish developers had the guts to offer zap-free clients focusing on social values like maybe independent journalism.

Testing out DALL-E, prompt refining is a good step up from midjourney, visual quality not so much.
I was having a discussion about how lightning network works and why there's a receive cap/limit.
Towards the end I proposed a metaphor where a channel is a table with coins between two pirates pushing the pile back and forth. I claimed that no coin ever leaves the table it was initially placed on, at which point GPT agreed and said that SATs do not travel cross channel rather value travels by cumulative balance shifts, Anywhoo I asked it to summarize the conversation as a picture, enjoy:
