Regarding moderation, you are assuming it is peer-to-peer. Identity is permissionless, relays are not. Relays are exactly like fediverse servers, relay admins can moderate all they want, they can grant or deny access. They can even charge you for access, natively. But unlike fediverse, they can't invalidate a person's entire digital identity and social graph.

now imagine all of that, but you need only one account to interact with each of those sites, an account that is entirely decoupled from a server admin or a domain name registrar, that you can generate yourself on your terms with a handheld or computer. That's nostr for you.

who would write the posts being quoted in that scenario?
To some extend i'd prefer a world where people are proactively shaping their narrative, over a world where all they have on their mind is framed by some upstream authority in xyz topic.
I don't know, either way, i find it limmiting to assume that the tools we have, or those that are given, are the ultimate form of social media.

Admins of Fediverse: any thoughts on this UK age verification bonanza? What's the apropriate response? 0 tollerance for lewd accounts/servers? Purge the server from UK users? Implement AI moderators and whatever bullshit governmental software is needed? Let the brits brit and 🤷‍♂️? Onion routing? I'm a heavy VLC user for radio stations, but since i started using navidrome.org i listen to radio stations through the apps for that. I'm not an app developer, but in my smol opionion, I think what applies here applies to pretty much everything FOSS: education supersedes user "friendliness". Elevating our peers is far more sustainable and empowering than dumbing down our apps.

what you are reffering to is the fact that most server software are resorting to use the mastodon api because it has the largest network share. Vendor lock-in tactics, basically. I can't use the mastodon clients on misskey. They're giving their own shot at that rat race. This is what happens when networks are built by website boys instead of protocol consensus.

wouldn't that be the problem of all the fediverse? I don't think it is a UX issue, more of a knowledge dissemination issue. Fedi is just not a meant as a signle sign-on application and i really hope it will never be, considering 99% of fedinauts have near 0 control over their accounts.
Nostr fixes those specific points. It has other problems, many of which are likely still unknown, but i'll admit it has lead me to lose my hopes in activitypub. What makes this network we're on now isn't the tools but the people. It really always boil down to that.

Once upon a time i was project lead for ubuntu studio :) not too long after that i got fed up with the corporate direction of canonical... so i switched! But I hope you like it! It's a good distro and the devs are super kind and responsive in the suport channels

Like Norway... popular vote was cast against EU participation. It's a direct democracy for good and worse.... To some extend i think it makes sense in a cynical way. EU is mostly an econonic union, and you don't keep the money under the bed: banking is the #1 industry there and conveniently placed in the center of it all. Heck, the country outline even looks like one of them clay pigs where you save coins!

Their tools are nice. I just migrated some of the basspistol servers to their VPS park. Some of their staff i grew up with 💜 Switzerland is on the European continent, not in the EU. Which might be better in terms of data laws, but i wouldn't bet on it forever; it is a mad populist country... fingers crossed, fists in the air!

I really don't think promotion or marketing is the problem for indie musicians. If we really have to stay in communication terms, at best the problem is propaganda.
The conditions of the market are fucked. The condition of labour are fucked.
Can't make music full time? It sucks, i feel you. We have to change the whole system so it works for those who want to do knitting or perfect their chess moves full time aswell. But yes, if changing the modus operandi of your outreach procedure invigorates you, please do that!

The version where transcription was introduced is 6.2.0, so unless you made a typo, upgrading should be the way to go.
