⚡ Vector Messenger: The Privacy Revolution That Actually Delivers

🔐 The Memory Hardening Nobody Else Has
Vector's Memory Hardening team (led by JSKitty) audited Signal, Telegram, and WhatsApp and found alarming gaps: Signal Desktop stores identity keys in a plain JavaScript Map, Telegram Desktop keeps the MTProto auth key as a plain std::array with no destructor, and WhatsApp is closed-source with known Cellebrite extraction capabilities.
Vector solves this with a novel approach: your private key never exists as a contiguous 32-byte blob in memory. Instead, Vector stores 4 XOR shares of the key, scattered among 128 arrays. 5 of those arrays contain real share data — the other 123 are pure decoys, filled with identical random data initialized at startup. The positions of the real shares are derived from ASLR addresses that change on every single launch.
For a Cellebrite operator grepping for a 32-byte high-entropy block? You get hundreds of thousands of hits. None of them is the key. Reconstructing it takes hours of single-core compute per device — incompatible with push-button fleet-scale extraction.
🛡️ The Concord Protocol & Encrypted Communities
The v0.4.0 "Concord Rising" release introduced the Concord Protocol — fully encrypted Communities. Membership IS the encryption key: remove someone and they are cryptographically locked out. Every message, channel name, and member list is end-to-end encrypted. Public URL share links for invites are also encrypted.

JSKitty built Open-Source DOOM — a fully playable, real-time multiplayer DOOM that ships as a 4.2MB file sent in a chat message. No servers, no accounts, no downloads. Chocolate Doom was compiled to WebAssembly via Emscripten, with the Cloudflare server layer replaced by pure P2P networking using Iroh (QUIC-based gossip) and Nostr for peer signalling. A server is auto-elected in ~3 seconds using a timestamp protocol. Hybrid real-time sync with exponential smoothing, host-authoritative damage validation, late join support. Total latency: ~100-200ms from keypress to kill confirmation. No servers touched.
