I appreciate @npub1hf5…wz3g's entreaty to the attendees of the #FediForum to engage with the Threads team genuinely.
Meta/Facebook have a mixed track record when it comes to open formats/standards (fool me once, etc etc); but at the same time, ushering in 130M potential new users to an open, social web is also an opportunity not to be dismissed out of hand.
I am optimistic that the current team is showing up with good intent and I intend to reflect that.

On the topic of hashtag accessibility, I stronger concur with @npub1t8v…k9sj's points:
1. Should hashtags be grouped at the end of a post or is it okay to add hashtags to words inline? Screen readers will treat them the same either way.
2. Is it necessary to capitalize single words? No.
3. What about branded words? This is more complex, but as a rule of thumb it’s okay to capitalize branded words as they are.

I maintain that the behavior introduced with this change should be optional and opt-in by default, and that additional capabilities for hashtags and adding metadata should be explored, as the rest of my post suggests.

Do you have a set of tests I can look at to better understand the behavior you've designed? I was relying on the screenshots in the Github issue.
Also, I was unaware of this: "as tags authored in non-Mastodon software that are not included in the body of the post would become visible for the first time"; are you saying that ActivityPub already supports non-inline tags on posts?
