Currently, I'm more in Rust, but Go is also pretty nice.

Is the crawler from #META / #Facebook acting up again? My traffic monitoring system alerted me to some unusual activity on my CDN. Someone was repeatedly downloading the same files. It turns out the Facebook crawler was downloading every file in the directory listing every two hours.
Time to say good bye, crawler. (blocked at 19.30PM)

I thought about replacing #Postfix by #Stalwart mailserver. I like the modern approach, the modern feeling etc. but using it as a backup mx on completely different locations is not really nicely implemented and results in workarounds. I don’t want to sync my datastores, I don’t want to write sieve rules etc.!
Maybe I just misunderstood it and anyone has a hint before switching back to Postfix. #mail #mailserver

@npub1ll4…x4pr UTM ist super, allerdings leider immer noch kein Vagrant provider für vorhanden. So ungern ich es sagen mag, VMware Fusion ist kostenfrei nutzbar und geht auch mit Vagrant. Danach heißt es nur noch, ARM64 kompatible Boxen für den Provider finden. Davon gibt es aber mittlerweile genug :)

Well, as much as I love opensource and federated solutions - TikTok, YT, Instagram etc. work quite well because people get paid for views and by sponsoring content. Getting paid for sponsoring content requires a huge follower base. On a platform where people won't get paid for the content will keep a niche. Sure, mostly the niche content provides more value, more insights but also more targets a niche user base and not the mainstream. Several people ditched their jobs for being an influencer and it often works out pretty well. Why should these people switch to something else? Why I'm telling this - just because of:
"If you’re a new creator and you’ve been trying to grow your #TikTok platform, don’t!"
Imho, if you want to contribute, like in opensource and bring in value for the community - yes you're right. But if you want to make money, TikTok & Co is probably the better way.
Just my 2 cheap cents...

I'm proud of my #team!
I cannot say this too often - not only from a team leading perspective, but also from a good friend one!
I joined in freshly, they taught me - I taught them! Together we improved day by day! Almost 10 yrs later, the team is still the same - no one left. I think I can say that everyone enjoys the work and everyone is doing a really great job! I really love this team and it works out that well because we're:
honouring, understanding, trusting & respecting each other!
This is not only about "happy posting" etc. - it's more about also getting taught. It does not automatically mean that a teamlead is always right. It does not mean that this person is always choosing the right path. And it is really good and important that everyone can take the opportunity without any fear to talk about any concerns. This should always be taken seriously, no one can know everything and no one is always right! What did I say in my first sentence - they taught me! And yes, this was the first thing what happened. They taught me!
But what is my hope? I had two really (and I mean it this way) good mentors. I hope, I can be the same for other ones. Helping to improve, to become better... But everyone is special in its own way and needs to treated that way. Hopefully, I can find the right directions...

So this shouldn't be any meaningful reason to anybody not to use Alpine! The same also applies for me to any other Linux distribution! It's my personal mindset and not a remarkable reason... Sorry if it sounds like that (that shoudln't be any flame or similar).
But I can also fully understand and see the needs of everyone else running Linux - so I created the related Linux images and collection for RV.

@npub1gfd…fd85 I'm fully with you. But I can also imagine that RV will take place in the near future. Nowadays, we finally see companies understanding the impacts of proprietary things. With Broadcom's VMware move, many companies saw the impact and are now trying to move to opensource products. An open and independent hardware design could boost this up, especially when some more investors and efforts are taken into this.

Wrong setups, network f*ckups, split brain situations etc. are probably the most typical ones. Having solutions for hot standby may often be a better approach. But like always - it always highly depends on the operator's needs.

Link and resource verification is (IMHO) an important part in the #Fediverse - especially when everyone can create and use the same name on any other federated instance to fake your profile. Therefore, I really want to see this also in #snac / #snac2.
We could use the same approach like #Mastodon, fetch the resource added by the user, write the date in a file and use this for the validated_at field of the resource. @npub1p77…0jxq - do you have already any plans? Maybe I can provide a PR…
Btw: what about the follower/followed by counter on the mastodon API - I heard this is intentionally not provided?

Finally found a native #iOS & #iPadOS client that works with #snac (#snac2) server instances - "tooot" and is free in the Apple AppStore.
When using such clients make sure to have the following proxy pass locations set on your reverse proxy:
