This style of "bat-friendly" street lighting has already been rolled out in various places within the UK.
One example is the junction between the A38 and A4104, near Upton upon Severn in Worcestershire. The entire junction was rebuilt a few years ago, and they now have red street lights.

Thanks for posting the Alt text. 👍
Note that the account is not a real Mastodon account for Zack Polanski; it's a bot re-posting from X. So they would have to change/fix the bot.
Whether they should be on X at all is another question.

A US gallon is 8 pints, but US pints are 16 fluid ounces. In the UK a gallon is 8 pints, and each pint is 20 fluid ounces. So a US gallon is 20% smaller than a UK gallon.
I assume that the Canadians in this thread must also be using US-sized gallons.

Most land area in the UK is still (informally) measured in acres.
I like the fact that an acre is a furlong by a chain, cos I can visualise that:- A chain is the length of a cricket wicket. A furlong is an eighth of a mile.
Also, an acre is the amount of land that one farmer (and horse, I assume) could plough in one day.
[I'm probably completely wrong about all this!]

I've just completed a four-day trip canoeing down the River Spey in Scotland. 112km. 🛶 Now I'm knackered.
We had a nice group; myself, my wife, her brother and nephew, plus a few others. We wild camped for four nights on islands in the river. 🏕
I was paddling tandem most of the time but paddled the last morning solo, into a headwind unfortunately. ☹️🌬
Typically Scottish weather; mixed sun, rain, cold, wind. Never the same as the forecast. ☀️🌤🌨

I live in Bristol. Around 90 minutes on a train to central London.
In the past, some of my London-based friends would refuse to come to visit Bristol, because it was "too far".
Yet somehow they expected me to go and visit them. 🤣
It's really that Londoners think that the whole world exists within London and don't want to stretch outside their cozy bubble.
(See also, media & political bias...)
(I'm an ex-Londoner)
