had a major physical and mental breakdown this week and was out cold for a few days, BP at 160/116 and difficulty breathing. what helped was propranolol and clonazepam.
what this signals to me though, is that the paralysis and stress i faced the last month or so wasn't due to my ADHD, but anxiety, and both play out very differently. Also shows why everytime I took methylphenidate in the last month or two it made things worse.
talked to some of my coworkers and they're feeling the same way too. job uncertainty, management behaving erratically, lots of work piled on. not sure if this will ever get better.

I finished the game yesterday, got a good ending, then one bad ending, apparently there are more but i think i'm good for now
i really liked it! it's a very self-assured piece of art with a very strong vision, having strong political opinions and a lot of good post-apocalyptic future world-building, and a lot of good ways to show parallels between the two
that being said, i had heard that it was somewhat about the experiences of the Chinese diaspora in the west and the social stigma they faced during the pandemic, which isn't really true! it's true that the pandemic's fingerprints are all over this piece, but the biggest political opinion it has (and i say this non-judgementally) is that it fucking hates the chinese government and (seemingly) communism as a whole
multiple references to the crackdowns on the hk protests of 2019, derogatory references to the red guard, just absolute venom towards the idea of a transition govt talking about "serving the masses"

my wife got me (legal) weed gummies (lots of indian startups calling it "Vijaya") and we both took one (1) whole gummy

you can't expect a layperson to install linux or use it as their daily driver
BUT
you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD expect it from professional computer engineers. at least experiment with using it as a daily driver, use the CLI a couple times instead of your IDE to compile or build your code, get comfortable with it

i liked it? sort of? the hardest hitting moment was definitely the first one, but the horror moments hit harder than the meta or "deep" moments, definitely, and the game seems to shift from the former to the latter as time goes on.
Which makes sense, because "this romance harem VN is secretly a horror story" is very, very well trod ground, and there are (at the very least) numerically lesser examples of "this romance harem VN has characters who are aware they're in a VN"
but in terms of hidden darkness and metafictional elements i automatically think of Undertale, and that's not a flattering comparison to DDLC.
anyway, there is one Best Ending i'd like to access, and some extra stories in the Plus edition i've bought. lessee.

and i don't necessarily disagree. barring the straight label i do relate to this, even though i'm not a car person, and the main reason is this - I think computer nerds treat their computer like car nerds would treat a car.
it makes sense if you think about the stereotype of the computer slob - he's not moisturizing his skin or using hair conditioner but he's spending hours on end choosing the right chassis and internals, customizing his setup with RGB lights or stickers, setting themed desktop environments and browsers, maybe even customizing his terminal.
(also i don't think computer nerds are always programmers, people who design/draw can also be computer nerds)

One interesting thing i'm seeing is that even as the managerial class is getting more bullish on GenAI and refusing to hear any dissent, the PR wings see the growing unpopularity of their products and are now pivoting to (somehow) using anti-Gen-AI sentiment to hawk their products.
"Doesn't this suck? It does right? We see you, we hear you, we have a new product that is same same but different"

it's for folk who like Paul McCartney's feet
guys you can make an ironic jokey subreddit but post and engage with it more and more and you'll end up genuinely being into stuff like Paul's feet or, god forbid, the Star Wars prequels....
