actually yes. I remember vaguely that 10 years is the break even point? But no facts to back it up just some vague memories... :)
Update: 5 years according to the American Christmas Tree Association which might be selling one or the other kind of trees ...

the spirit of that is kept alive by @npub1nrx…m4fy under the 'disguise' of running an infosec conference @npub1xe6…p3u6 ;) half of every talk is about people's interests outside of infosec. it's so amazing to learn about what folks build, write, teach, brew, or experience. so much talent, so much variety.

Thanks $cybersecurityvendor for sending the info about a giveaway to me and 833 other folks. How do I know 833? Well thankfully you put everyone into the To field. May the reply-to-all war of 2025 begin!

Not good opsec wearing short sleeves when you're heavily inked and you are kidnapping random folks while being recorded...

First time making lahmacun, a kind of Turkish pizza with a ground lamb / beef topping with chopped onions, tomatoes and peppers and a lot of spices. Been at least 30 years since I last ate one. Very good, will do again.

I mean yeah, we signed up for earthquakes, riots and wildfires, not thunderstorms, floods or hurricanes. Makes perfect sense.

lol. Yeah, slightly annoyed at nature's power, shaking the ground we live on. 'nows really not a good time! I'm watching Deadpool & Wolverine!'. I guess a good reminder to check your supplies, make sure your emergency Mac&cheese aren't expired and wait for the next one ..

too many to be in a constant state of seriousness. We prepare, we ride em out, we make clever comments when we get interrupted by a little shaking. And we know, one day our preparation will be needed and there most likely won't be any place online where we can chat about it. I think it's a pretty healthy approach. And yes, hard to understand for anyone not living through it day in and out. :)

you know you've been here long enough (too long?) when your reaction is 'guess a 3.5' vs 'holy crap did that just happen '. :)
