Kristi Noem spoke at RSA today and said she had had a "candid" conversation with tech leaders here in SF earlier in the day. My understanding is they were executives in tech, critical infrastructure, and cyber.
Do you know of anyone who attended? I'm looking for details of the guest list and what the conversation was like. Can keep your identity private. Signal is kevincollier.01, email [email protected].

More than 130 CISA employees have been laid off as part of a larger government purge, DHS spokesperson tells me.
If you have firsthand knowledge of this and want the public to know, your opsec is a top priority and I promise to keep you anonymous in all our coverage. I'm kevincollier.01 on signal; please turn on disappearing messages.

Kind of interesting: it seems that the Trump campaign's line here is the first instance of any western party lying about the Iran hack-and-leak from earlier this summer. Took a while!

Confirming DOJ plans to indict hackers over attempted Trump hack-and-leak campaign attributed to Iran.
I had been emailing, pretty fruitlessly, with one of at least 2 seeming IRGC hacker AOL accounts distributing the files. Account deleted as of today.

Cyber folks, I have a funny problem. Multiple sources are trying to fwd me IRGC phishing emails for me to examine, but I can't receive them because email protection keeps blocking them. I've tried several email providers. What's one that won't be such a narc about Iranian military hackers?

Hey fellow media, we all remember the lessons from 2016 about how to ethically cover an adversarial nation-state hack-and-leak operation designed to influence a presidential election while being true to journalism but also not being played in the op, right? Whew. And we all agree on what those lessons were? Great, awesome, just checking.

It's very surreal to watch a man write a book falsely portraying the people you grew up with, then see the rich liberals you live around as an adult make it a bestseller, then that success nets him a GOP senate seat, then he becomes a consensus freak laughing stock tanking a far-right pres ticket.

Good morning everyone in cyber! Let me know if I missed anything in the five hours I was able to sleep because of infant

Morning! I'm back today after several incredible months of leave. Hungry for solid, actionable tips! Especially re election cybersecurity, kids' privacy, online propaganda campaigns, and cyber threats to our day to day life (i.e Volt Typhoon, attacks on hospitals and schools).

This is the case that prompted DOJ guidance for the FBI to stop warning social media companies about foreign influence campaigns on their platforms, though they had somewhat resumed

At some point extremely prolific cybercriminals wanted by the FBI and who knows who all else are going to realize they can't just fly in and out of Spain, but I guess we aren't there yet.

USAA really really not reading the room here and is *now* unveiling voice account verification, just as the whole world knows it's trivially easy to clone someone's voice with AI. Incredibly bad decision that will undoubtedly lead to bank accounts getting drained.

Change Healthcare's latest announcement about its ongoing, devastating ransomware attack uses some PR speak: more than 90% the 70,000+ US pharmacies that use it have developed workarounds.
That seems worded to hide that thousands are totally offline.

New: I profiled Mac Warner, the top election official in WV, who I've known for years. He's gone from conspiracy theorist to anti-disinformation fighter. But as he's leaving office and running for governor, he's embracing election denialism more than ever

Really late to this from @npub1hyk…3p33 but new year new you. This really articulates my most fundamental skepticism of gen AI as a business model. If it necessarily makes unreliable information, and therefore always needs a human minder, how the shit is it going to save anyone money?

Anybody know of a good service that tracks total annual US data breaches and number of victims? I know of the Identity Theft Resource Center and HaveIBeenPwned (which doesn't do comprehensive reports, afaik). But ideal would be comprehensive, authoritative historical data that goes back 20 years
