We used these Bluetooth helmet "radios" by Sena, and they were extremely helpful on long rides where we couldn't bike side by side, such as when we moved house by bike. But these were mediocre helmets, if either the Bluetooth or helmet dies you must replace both, and annoyingly you had to pair the helmets every time.

I tried riding for a short 20-30 minutes in ~25 degree F weather last week. I had been traveling and was not well-prepared. My fingertips and toes were cold, but my core was warm and I was sweating.

I'd never tried a Peloton indoor cycle until a few months ago. I was surprised that the leaderboard aspect (virtual racing?) made me want to try harder. I don't wish to buy/subscribe to Peloton, but I'd like to get good exercise indoors if it's hard to outside.

I nearly always bike on city streets and don't need anything super bright, just enough to make me visible, but recently upgraded my front light from a 240 lumen one to a 400. I like it to be bright enough to light up reflective signs ahead. Plus, it's handy when I find myself taking an unlit path in the dark—not often, but when it happens I absolutely need it.

* wet weather: covers for cargo or for children. Tern and Rad (among others) make rain shields.
* Cold: weather shields above work, also there are cargo bike specific blankets for children (Lark's Bike Blankets)
* distance: extra battery?
* weight: I've seen cargo bikes in NY locked to bike racks / poles outside and covered with motorcycle weather covers. I know of a few families who have installed municipal style bicycle racks on their property to provide a place to lock outside.

On my way home a kid in a car yelled “Bike Bus!” to me. I guess they saw my flag? I don’t know if they go to our school or not, but of the things that someone might yell at you from a car, this is one of the best.

At a red light, a driver sped through then cut off two lanes of car traffic at the next light to take a freeway ramp. I guess I was distracted. Next I heard “Bicyclist! Get out of the way!” The light had turned green and another driver was trying to turn right.
I hate how aggro traffic stress makes drivers.

@nprofile…qkl3 A8. I was looking through my photos and saw screenshots of rage inducing Nextdoor posts about how “cyclists are some of the angriest people around” (which, yes, after reading stuff like that ☹️)
Then I found a pic of us riding into the sunset. Beautiful but also hard to see. I saw lots of drivers do weird things because they probably couldn’t see either. Some were driving excessively slow (which I support!)
