@nprofile…s45g asks a question that is making me feel a little jealous!
Now that I’m a Brompton owner, I’m more-often noticing Brompton riders in the responses here or in posts from folks I follow.
Q4. For Brompton and other folding bike vets, what are some special tips for newbies that you could share? For other new riders, what’s your experience been like? Also, please share photos 😀🚴‍♀️❤️

And our last question this week as usual: your week in a photo.
Q8. What did you see this week? Reply with a photo if you'd like. Cycling related or not is fine. Tell us about it!

@nprofile…5ug5 asks:
My Schwalbe Marathon tire (on my Brompton) was punctured and the tube is ruined.
Q5. I know I have to replace the tube, but should I replace the tire as well? It’s a tiny puncture, so I’m tempted to use it again, but common sense says it’s not worth it. What would you do?

@nprofile…fwps @nprofile…6r9q cool! I have questions. Do you have the version of the hard case that converts to a trailer? How much does the bike + case weigh? And I assume no oversize luggage fees? How long does it take to break down / set up again?

@nprofile…x3yj asks:
Q3. How much do you rely on AI to obtain cycling-related information instead of social media such as Reddit, cycling forums, and fediverse? For me, I still go to Reddit for personal experience and feedback, but mostly ask Gemini about technical questions, product information/comparison, nutrition advice, etc.

@nprofile…k2kz asks:
Q3. What communications systems do people use for talking with other bicyclists while riding?
We used these Bluetooth helmet "radios" by Sena, and they were extremely helpful on long rides where we couldn't bike side by side, such as when we moved house by bike. But these were mediocre helmets, if either the Bluetooth or helmet dies you must replace both, and annoyingly you had to pair the helmets every time.

- in press cuttings
- contemporary ones showing bicycles as a tool of independence (e.g. Afghan women)

Q5. Who else besides Rivendell is innovating with low-tech non-electronic bicycle components?
Bonus points if they're compatible with vintage bikes, to keep the used bikes + parts ecosystem fresh and relevant despite modern ebike trends. Here I want BIFL heirlooms that I can put in my will.

Have you heard about Schwalbe's new Clik valves? @nprofile…46yd asks:
I have 4 bikes with Presta and 1 with Schrader valves. I have several floor pumps, hand pumps, tire gauges, CO2 cartridge adapters and a power mini pump. Many those might be obsolete if I were to switch to Clik valves.
Q3. Can anyone explain the benefit of Clik valves?
Has anyone switched?

@nprofile…qg87 @nprofile…qkl3 A2. I do not have a proper "cargo bike" but here is what I know/have seen:
* wet weather: covers for cargo or for children. Tern and Rad (among others) make rain shields.
* Cold: weather shields above work, also there are cargo bike specific blankets for children (Lark's Bike Blankets)
* distance: extra battery?
* weight: I've seen cargo bikes in NY locked to bike racks / poles outside and covered with motorcycle weather covers. I know of a few families who have installed municipal style bicycle racks on their property to provide a place to lock outside.

At a red light, a driver sped through then cut off two lanes of car traffic at the next light to take a freeway ramp. I guess I was distracted. Next I heard “Bicyclist! Get out of the way!” The light had turned green and another driver was trying to turn right.
I hate how aggro traffic stress makes drivers.

@nprofile…qkl3 A8. I was looking through my photos and saw screenshots of rage inducing Nextdoor posts about how “cyclists are some of the angriest people around” (which, yes, after reading stuff like that ☹️)
Then I found a pic of us riding into the sunset. Beautiful but also hard to see. I saw lots of drivers do weird things because they probably couldn’t see either. Some were driving excessively slow (which I support!)
Very pretty light!

Q2. Anyone have a USA source for a budget headlight with vertical beam cutoff? E.g. TUV certification?
I'm setting-up a winter/snow MTB for a college kid. They are used to a Busch & Muller dynamo, and beam pattern & cutoff is more important than lumens.
These tend to get scratched/smashed/lost/stolen on campus, so I'm trying to keep budget down.
