Super long posts screw the feed for sure but the ability to write them is something I value in Damus. I think the solution is capping the default notes view to like max 250 characters l then have a “Read More v” clickable.

Just two! Milou and Spore.
I had around 30 but it’s way too much spam. I’ve added a few other free relays that some of the users I follow added, as I trust they may be ok. I imagine the original free relays Damus starts with are probably littered with spam now and I wonder whether I should start to remove them, but I also don’t want to cut off new users that might be worth connecting to.

I agree with you about relays, I’m just hoping to see some kind of simplification of onboarding with greater transparency. Right now it feels like you are reliant on trust and there’s clearly so many scams about. For a lay user it looks way too sketchy. However, as I’ve been tipped enough to join a couple, it’s no loss to me.

From what I’m reading:
1. Censorship resistant communities.
2. Quality (read paid) relays.
3. Incentives for content creators.
What I’m hoping to see are more focused relays, similar to what we see with servers on mastodon. It would be nice to have focused writer or artist relays and the ability to selectively post notes to specific relays.
Eventually, better inline content. Edge to edge images and videos. But I’m not going to start down that path cause there’s always an endless wishlist.

Ok, cheers. I’ll have to dig into this filter business later.
I totally get operators could just pull the rug out and I guess that’s just a risk you have to take. I suppose it’s still a bit early and some operators will become more mainstream/reputable to a wider audience.
Right now it’s just a lot to take in if you are new to all of this and with all the obvious spams and scams it’d be nice to have a easy way for users new to the game to feel safe.
The only round the houses way I can think of doing this is with a trusted user. Both adding a paid relay before paying, delete all other relays and attempt to send notes and DMs, then pay and try again. Obviously, most people will not have time for that, despite the low entry fee.

But as a regular lay user, someone would just have to take your word for that. This might seem obvious to NOSTR pros but to an outsider it just sounds like it’s a case of “Trust me, it’s fine.”
I’m not trying to call anyone out, just to be clear, I’m just asking how this can be simplified to 100% confirm you get what you pay for.

Not sure if there is a character limit on notes, and I like that, but it can also be a pain in the ass with long posts when scrolling through feeds. What do you think about some kind of Expand Note feature?
Maybe limit notes to a 200 character view, then click to expand.

Am I missing the part that explains why people would just tip someone for no reason? What’s in it for the tipper? Who is this aimed at?
I see a lot of people requesting tips accompanied by a ton of spam. It’s not encouraging.
