There will definitely be *some* channel closures, so other things equal routing fees will be higher than usual for a while.
Here's a very detailed breakdown of the logic and game theory of various ways things could go (without guaging the likelihood of the various outcomes) by Start9 https://start9.com/bip110/

interesting meditation, borg. I'll interact with this one AND zap. I am just one data point, but usually the comment on my zap does not get repeated into the comments. Only fuller, more fleshed-out thoughts get to the comments. Likes are frivolous in either case

I mean, I read Hodlonaut's piece and I'm super sympathetic and into Knots now, but I have heard that the activation mechanism for BIP110 is a bit questionable and of successful would result in a "hard" fork.. am I way off??

Yes, understood. Am I incorrect in thinking that BIP110 "Yes" is a hard fork?

Is this correct? I'm not well informed. Is BIP110 backwards compatible and therefore cannot be a hard fork off?

Yeah, perhaps, I dunno shit about that. To me, his blindness on the superiority of Bitcoin over gold seems incredibly forced, so there's gotta be motivation there, in one form or another.

Yes, I agree. I find his commentary compelling and agree with the philosophy and "vibe" of his arguments. But I also remember ascribing credit to his "and therefore Bitcoin will go to zero" tags at the end of all his podcasts, and I wish that I had not been tuned into that message is those days. So I question the specifics he's spouting now.

If that's what he's doing, then respect. On the individual level, he's playing the game correctly. Obviously the willful blindness on the "utility" question is ludicrous, as if dentistry would be a respectable base for Bitcoin and nothing less would suffice. Ultimately though, the dishonesty is unforgivable. Are you here to better yourself at the expense of your peers, Peter Schiff, or do you want to better the whole of man by removing the fiat blinders from our eyes??

2026-06-27 12:56:32 GMT
