What have the Democrats done to warrant crypto support? From what I can tell, the SEC under Biden has behaved in a extremely corrupt fashion, extorting billions out of the crypto industry even as they provide regulatory moats for their cronies. Several crypto OG's have been caged (Ver, Tornado Cash devs, Samourai wallet deves). Operation Chokepoint II is well under way, and almost all crypto-friendly banks have been shut down. Many crypto services have moved out of the US and/or refuse to serve US customers due to the predatory Democratic-controlled state.
Why should the Democrats stop attacking us, unless we punish them in the voting booth?

You're right that it's better when no single person or small cadre can unilaterally throttle access to the public square.
However, I don't think it was that unclear at the time that deplatforming Trump violated Twitter's nominal commitment to free speech. What made it a difficult decision was Twitter's workforce, which was composed almost exclusively of progressive Democrats. The tribal drumbeat to drive out their political adversary must have been deafening.
Had Twitter had a commitment to hire people with actual diversity of thought, maybe there would've been more principled defenders of free speech to push back.

Judging from the comments on his page, it appears that Steven B Harris has died. My deepest sympathies to his friends and family.
I worked with him at 21st Century Medicine, and he always struck me as kind and highly knowledgeable across many disciplines. He--along with Mike Darwin, Brian Wowk, and Greg Fahy--deserves kudos for advancing the state of the art of cryobiological science. (1)
He was one of the few MD's willing to publicly stick up for cryonics research in the face of severe professional ostracism. (2) He also assisted with a number of cryonics cases.
I hope that he was successfully cryopreserved, and that he will someday enjoy much more life thanks to the technology he helped to advance.

Sam Bankman-Fried caused enormous harm, and I, like many others, want him to face justice. But letting him rot in prison seems like a waste. To me, proper justice would involve him making as much restitution to his victims as he can with his remaining life.
He's non-violent, so there's no physical threat that requires locking him away from the rest of society.
Instead, he should be forced to wear an ankle monitor, and allowed to find what jobs he can. In order to incentivize him to work, he should get to keep a percentage of the money he earns above the amount required to monitor him. (The rest should go toward a victim restitution fund.) The more he makes, the higher the percentage of his earnings he gets to keep.

IMO, I think it's a good idea, but done at the level of the person, rather than the level of posts.
It would be easier to just post funny memes and interesting science. It's time consuming and unpleasant to make unpopular points (such as the fact that Israeli bombs and food/fuel/water embargoes have killed far more children than Hamas has). But imagine if you knew that Jews were being gassed by your government, and you said nothing because it was unpopular?
Many controversial topics are also heavily throttled by social media's censorship algorithms. I might feel more relaxed about building a bubble for myself if I trusted that mainstream media sources weren't routinely spreading lies and propaganda (I bet many people still believe Hunter Biden's laptop was a Russian plant, that Kyle Rittenhouse murdered three black men in cold blood, or that 300 K children are being trafficked in the US ).
So rather than build my bubble at the level of the post, I try to surround myself with peple who can discuss controversial discuss topic politely, follow good argumentation practices, and assume good will. People who fail to do those things consistently get dropped from my feed.
One of my dreams is to find a forum that enforces / rewards good argumentation / epistemic practices:

Are you familiar with Arweave? It's a project intended to store data permanently in a decentralized, censorship manner for a one time fee.
One of the concerns I have about the njump service is that the service will be abandoned, and the njump links will go 404.
Therefore, I'd like the njump info be stored on the Arweave network, and the Arweave link posted to twitter instead of the link to njump. That way, even if the njump service disappears, my tweet will still be visible on Twitter. I'd also like the arweave link to be added to my Nostr post.
Since the Arweave network necessarily requires a fee for storage, this could also be a way to finance the service--add a percentage for the Twitter bridge on top of the Arweave fee.
Arweave doesn't charge a fee for storage up to 500 KB, so maybe short, image-free tweets are free, and charge a fee for long tweets + image / video storage.

1. I know Twitter doesn't yet support uploading longform tweets via the API. When it becomes possible to do so, I would prefer that the tweet not be truncated.
2. May we also have a flag to turn off the njump link? Unfortunately, Twitter posts mostly a duplicate of the tweet as a preview in blinding black on white text.
3. Would like to be able to upload attached images directly to Twitter. As I think only one image per upload is allowed, upload the first image in the tweet, if there are multiple images.

"Currently the Monero Core Team is responsible for a number of things that are critical to Monero, and as a result there is a great level of trust implicit in them. For instance, a malicious Monero Core Team member could hijack the domain, and serve up malicious Monero downloads right after a new release. No matter how quickly this is detected, there will be many affected downloads, and could cause massive financial and privacy-related network damage. The recent CSS wallet incident is also an example of risks that the Core Team presents.
Additionally, this has been a thankless job that the Core Team has taken on (for no compensation), although even if there were compensation and constant praise it would still be a centralising force that we should try and eviscerate.

New to nostr, and enjoying exploring the wide variety of apps available.
As I understand it, nostr posts are stored in a number of relays, and as long as at least one relay is storing it, your content will be available.
However, if no relays are storing it, then it will disappear. You can host your own relay, and broadcast your own content, but that's not done by default.
I would like to store my notes more permanently.
Most storage networks (such as filecoin, sia, and storj) require ongoing payments to store your data.
However, the arweave network is designed to store notes for at least 200 years for a one time fee. The fee acts like an endowment fund that generates enough interest to cover the estimated cost of storage (given very conservative estimates about the future cost of storage).

Notes: The LBRY desktop client seeds/shares content out, if you do not like this, pay attention during its first run to the prompt and ensure it is closed when you are finished from the notification/app tray. This stated, sharing is caring and the service cannot operate for free this is why this tutorial is intended for SHTF purposes only, if everyone runs out and downloads 100GB of files when they normally would download 1GB it may be problematic.
Install VirtualBox (virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads)
Create a VM for Xubuntu, Debian or other AppImage supporting distros (xubuntu.org/download), allocate 100GB+ if you intend to archive every channel (Double the number you think*)
Set power settings within VM/Linux and Host/Windows to never go to sleep.
Download, mark as executable (chmod +x command or permissions page of file properties) and run the .AppImage for LBRY (lbry.com/linux), minimize it.
Navigate to https://github.com/belikor/lbrydseed/releases/, download, mark as executable and run the .Appimage for lbrydseed from CLI/Terminal as it has output (Open terminal, navigate to downloads directory, type “./lbrydseed*”, hit enter).
Load up on “minecraft” channels from the "En Bloc Press developer index" and elsewhere (Black Lotus Coalitions "Updated Odysee GunCAD list"), make a list of all channels you want by handle with number of items desired “@example, 5” , “@example, 100” ([censored])
Put the terminal window on one half of the screen, navigate to the download tab and download channel tab. Set the download directory or leave as is. Fill out input at bottom of GUI with Odysee channels. Click validate input, ensure terminal output looks okay. Click resolve online, ensure terminal output looks okay. Check boxes for “download original claims”, “save the media files” and “place media inside subdirectory”. The US was one of many countries that allowed slavery. Slavery was ended in the US after a bloody civil war. However, slavery in most other countries was ended peacefully.
One of the primary methods used to get slaveholders on board with the change was compensated emancipation, i.e. the government paid the slaveholders for the slaves and set them free.
The UK, for example, paid slaveholders 40% of the purchase price of a slave. In the US, slaves sold for around ~$1000/slave (price varied depending on health, age, skills, etc). $1000 in 1848 is worth about $40,000 in 2023 dollars.
40% of $40,000 is $16,000.
The median household income in Palestine is about $3000. The total GDP was about $10 billion per year (in 2012).
The average household size in Palestine is 6 people, or about 1.2 million households. If every Palestinian household was given $20 K, it would cost about $240 billion (1,200,000*20000).
So, the proposal is this: offer to pay Palestinians $10 K if they move to some other country with no right of return. $3 K up front, plus the remainder paid out over 5 years for every year the family stays in the country. Pay the other $10 K to the country that accepts them on the same terms. The host country must give them green cards (no vote, but they can otherwise live and work as equals).
$240 billion is a great deal of money. But keep in mind that the USG has also already given about $260 billion in aid to Israel since WWII. The US also spent $2.3 trillion on the war in Afghanistan. This is about 11% of that cost.
If the Palestinian population can be substantially reduced, then it will be easier to integrate the remaining Palestinians into the rest of Israel, since they would be less of an electoral threat to the Israeli government.
