Is there anyway for Nostr to implement proper MFA? I would feel much more secure knowing my account could be protected with more robust security measures

@nprofile…cgkr I am currently working with your support team on an account issue I was having, and the solution that was implemented for me actually gave me access to another user's wallet. I understand you are a small team, and sometimes support can take a while to get back, but this is an issue that should be addressed immediately. Feel free to DM me for more details, but I would really urge you to take this seriously and to address it as soon as possible.

One of the biggest challenges facing us in the coming years is to deconstruct some of the previous beliefs we've held dear. It takes courage and humility to do so, but the work will be worth it if we just keep our heads down and seek truth.

The XMR alternative:
Step 1. Use Monero.
That's literally it. I'm a Bitcoin maximalist, but I believe we can learn a lot from Monero and it's community. Bitcoin privacy, as it stands, is nowhere near good enough to fully protect humanity's inherent right to privacy. Lightning is great, but it has its own problems. And in the end, anything beyond "just use it" is not good enough. We have a long way to go.

I definitely can get behind that. Right now my "problem" with how I've been approaching BTC is that when it comes to buying something, I ask myself if I really need it. More often than not the answer is no, and I choose to buy more Bitcoin with that money instead. So I'm in more of a "don't spend, and buy more" phase.

2025-01-19 05:27:05 GMT

My biggest regret regarding how I've handled Bitcoin in the past is that I wanted it to replace cash so badly, that I ignored the potential of treating it like gold.
When I first got into Bitcoin, yes it felt like a way to make a bit of money, but the vision I had was one where dollars were obsolete and sats exchanged hands in day-to-day life. I spent what should have been invested.
Now, over the past few years, that's changed quite a bit. Of course, I still believe in the future where we trade sats for goods and services. Yes, I believe fiat will become obsolete. But now, I am focused enough on the future that I don't feel obliged to make that a reality today. Not yet.
Keep stacking sats, friends.

2025-01-19 04:17:33 GMT

And it's official. The TikTok app is banned in the United States of America.

2025-01-19 02:42:41 GMT

"Buy the rumor, sell the news" is nonsense. Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme.
DCA as often as possible. Cop extra sats if the price is low. Spend them if you need or are able. And HODL your savings.
Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be, or you'll risk losing your wealth. It'll be hard, but nothing worth working toward will be easy.

Not to speak on behalf of the Monero community, but what XMR brings to the table isn't necessarily to combat devaluation. Monero's strength is empowering users by giving them the human right to privacy. And while Bitcoin can be made to be more private with the right actions in place, Monero is private by default. As a BTC maximalist myself who doesn't own XMR, I've said this before and I stand by it, Monero is the only crypto currency worth talking about apart from Bitcoin, even if it's just to discuss principles and implementation.

But I'd love to make the move to living solely on the BTC standard in the future. Cudos to you if you go down that route. It's the future anyway

2025-01-15 19:11:14 GMT

Definitely. Either way, people are better off without ever trading Bitcoin for fiat savings. I think many people still need to change their perspective on this. Bitcoin is not an on/off ramp to fiat wealth. Dance the line between hodling and spending, but try not to resort to selling for selling's sake. You'll just have less wealth in the long run.
