Guess who is lying here? Organic Maps binary files are free and have always been free. The license only requires proper attribution, in the same way that using Wikipedia or OpenStreetMap.org data requires proper attribution.

it works for you, because you have changed that setting.
BTW, F-Droid deliberately misinforms users by labeling Organic Maps as such:
1. Our binary files are free assets and can be used by anyone. They are under a FOSS license that requires proper attribution.
2. The fact that the app downloads its maps from the app's CDN does not make the app "bad".
But that's another story/narrative pushed towards OM by some of the F-Droid guys.
Let's focus now on the installation issue.

it looks like an Apple's bug, please check it for other apps too and let us know if someone has found a workaround: https://github.com/organicmaps/organicmaps/issues/11750

what is your use case for a "free riding" mode (when navigation is not active)?

2025-11-24 21:51:10 GMT

- reply

We won't. To make the best maps app, it's important to be fast, simple, and easy to use.

GPX, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON tracks can be imported already. Track navigation is planned!

PT is in development, business info depends on contributions to OpenStreetMap.org and on everyone of us. It is easy to add missing opening hours using Organic Maps btw.

It could be related to "avoid" options or wrong OpenStreetMap.org map data. Maybe you can share some cases like this one to investigate?

poll is a good idea, although the results are generally biased depending on the audience type. E.g. votes of existing users may be radically different from votes of _potential_ users. It is great to hear direct feedback/comments, as OM doesn't collect any info, we rely on our users' feedback to build a better maps app.

typing "bus stop" in the search should work, no? What if you see _local_, _live_ schedules in OM?

which country are you in? Adding postal codes can be done directly to OpenStreetMap.org , or using Organic Maps Editor.

what are your use cases for different routing algos? Wouldn't it be better to make the single algo work "as expected"?

2025-11-24 21:40:41 GMT

- reply

yes, it is feasible, if it doesn't do any harm. Someone still should pay the bills for development, support, and servers/downloaded data.

Where/what can we improve?

2025-11-24 21:34:33 GMT

- reply

it is a common issue with OpenStreetMap data. The best way is to mark such crossings with "no turn" restriction in OpenStreetMap.org , or leave a note for other volunteers to fix: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:restriction

- Alternate routes are planned.
- Can you please report non-optimal and wrong routes on our GitHub, so we can investigate and fix them? Please check if related OpenStreetMap.org data is correct.
- Automatic updates and downloads are planned
- Which UX issues do you see in Android Auto? We can't fix them without your feedback. Please check our GitHub and add/update the things you think are important.
