Another VirPed director involved in a sex scandal. He's facing AMSC and image based charges. While I have a lot of problems with VirPed, I feel shitty about this. And anyone involved in the imprisonment system.
Rumors say the images were illegal shota and the "CSA" charges are false. I can't comment on that. Whether true or not, though, I think it's unlikely he's done anything immoral by *my* standards. Which means he's facing an injustice.

"Gen Alpha may be the first generation to have no remembered experience of agency - no before-times, no pre-screen self."
A childhood planned by overanxious millennial parents and entertainment curated by social media algorithms.
I don't want to be the old person that says "back in my day". But this trajectory is worrying.

Most people assume MAPs who support youth rights are just making excuses to fuck kids. But the truth is more complex—and more threatening to the status quo. For MAPs who think seriously about ethics, attraction forces uncomfortable questions. If you care about someone younger, not just as a desire-object but as a person, you’re eventually forced to ask: What do they want? What do they feel? What would it mean to respect their agency?
That’s where the shift begins. You start by wondering whether minors can consent to intimacy—but soon you’re questioning everything. Can they consent to medical care? To schooling? To being forced into religion, gender roles, custody arrangements? You start seeing how little control youth have over their own lives, and how that lack of control is often justified “for their own good” by adults who don’t want to share power.
This isn’t about trying to justify anything. In fact, it makes many MAPs more cautious, not less. But it also leads to a kind of clarity: once you’ve seriously questioned one form of adult supremacy, the rest of it starts to unravel. You realize the real issue isn’t just sex. It’s control. And that control permeates every structure of society—education, family, law, even medicine.
Most progressives won’t touch this. They’ll advocate for trans youth, or abortion rights, or better schools—but the idea that kids should have meaningful autonomy over their daily lives? Over who they trust, or love, or listen to? That still scares them. Because to grant that kind of agency to youth would mean adults would have to give up power. Not just pretend to listen, but actually lose control.
That’s why some of the most serious youth liberationists are MAPs. Not because they want to “use” kids—but because they’ve looked directly into the face of society’s most buried contradiction: we say we love children, but we don’t trust them. And if you can sit with that truth, you start seeing how deep the injustice runs.

Convicted of raping a woman?
I'm sorry, you are no longer allowed to go to places where women frequently visit.
You're also banned from living with any women.
And all those female friends you had that you never had sexual intentions towards? You need to give them all up, too.
Those posters on your walls of celebrities? If any of those have women in them you'll need to take them down.
And destroy your books with love scenes involving women.
Just a taste of what people convicted of a crime involving minors have to go through.

The UK “online safety act”. The Australian ban on social media for under 16s. KOSA in the US.
This stuff trumps any kind of MAP issue, really.
We need a proper youth led youth lib movement. As a matter of urgency.

do they specifically give reasons for being anti-c though? or is it more just that they focus on destigmatization like anti-c people do?

What is considered the "anti-c" canon?
For pro-c 4 names that jump to mind are Rind, Sandfort, Rivas and Okami.
I know that the body of literature is much bigger and working from a different framework, but Finkelhor and Abel are two of the biggest names (though the latter is more anti than anti-c). Who else?

Talking to a minor is not grooming.
Talking to a minor about sex is not grooming.
Talking to a minor sexually is not grooming.
Showing overt sexual interest in a minor is not grooming.
Doing something sexual with a minor after building a relationship with them is not grooming.
Grooming refers to a specific type of coercive behavior, usually threatening or deceptive in nature. It does not mean "any interaction between a minor an unrelated adult".

VoA is a peaceful haven compared to BC, though.
BC is more like a cage fight, though. The mods rarely get involved and pick sides.

Legal reform to me is pretty damn important. But that’s less “adults should be able to have sex with children whenever they want” (which is ridiculous) and far more about fixing the injustices that many people who have already offended face.
Whether we’re allowed to hold a camp openly without harassment or not is important. But it’s hardly as life defining as a 20 year sentence and life on a registry (or in civil commitment) over a mutually agreed on handjob (I won’t make assumptions about ability to consent).
Everything else is a drop in the ocean compared to legal reform. Other issues are like arguing about being to put a pride sticker on your gay bookstore when your friends are still in prison after being picked up for “lewd behavior” in police stings in the late 1950s. Or it’s like arguing for gay marriage to be legalized while homosexual intercourse is still illegal.
If living happy celibate lives was possible, maybe I’d think differently. But even 40% of VP users admit to having viewed CP. Most of us may not have a conviction, but I think most of us probably have broken relevant laws at some stage. At least once. Without even accounting for MAPs forced to register than don’t even realize they are MAPs themselves.
That all said, though, even with legal reform being my most important issue I still lean Democrat. Change won’t happen at the legislative level. If it comes at all, it’ll be through the courts. And Democrat appointed justices have been far more skeptical of registries, civil commitment and longer, harsher sentences.
Democrats politicians aren’t going to do shit for MAPs. But Democrats judges might.
As for minor stuff like being allowed to hold a camp? Neither side is super progressive on that either. But it definitely won’t come from the current right. Unless there’s a rise in libertarian sentiment again, the left will likely be the only party that even gives a token positive looking.
