@npub1ug7…n0uq I'd check buffer size for your interface in your DAW. Try increasing the Buffer Size, this may remove the clicks.

@npub1v0e…hru3 The 4k UHD one I got is Sony UBP-X700M. Turns out 4K UHD discs are region free. The Blu-Ray player that I picked up that is region free is something I got off eBay and was a SONY BDP-S1700 That was apparently cracked or something. Don’t know if it’s still available though, I got that one 5 years ago.

@npub1a73…7y6q The SE8’s sensitivity is a few dB louder than that of the SE7, so in the sense of required amplification it has a better specification.
SE8’s self noise is 3dB lower than the sE7 so it has a quieter self noise.
For your application of voice calls, both of these slight benefits in technical performance will be negligible.

@npub1a73…7y6q I just bought it because I needed a new phone and it was the newest version and it was a decent size. So I should get 6-7 years of use out of it and when that cost is amortized over 6 years that’s a fair price to me.

Has anyone else noticed that walk in restaurants don’t seem to care about walk in customers any more? They seem solely focused on completing online orders.
Today a restaurant had a sign that they wouldn’t be serving anyone in person, they were only accepting door dash and Uber eats. Bizarre.
The more important question though: how in the world do so many people afford to pay the exorbitant cost of delivery?

@npub1a73…7y6q @npub1ug7…n0uq @npub169w…hcp3 If it’s a mic that’s actually a counterfeit, I really wouldn’t want to cover that on my channel because I think that’s unethical and the counterfeiting is also illegal. But I would love to hear it next to a proper SM7b.
Also Gene - The channel you were commenting on was my podcast channel. That’s not why I’m thought of as the mic guy. That one is still under 10,000 subs. My main channel is Podcastage, and that one has over 300,000 subs. To me that seems like a lot. Haha.

If it was made in Mexico (that’s correct) at least. If it has the US warranty and everything and also shipped from CA maybe it was stolen and being sold online?
I agree that mics in different parts of the world have different prices. I haven’t heard about that with the SM7b though. Neumann and AKG are primary examples of that thought. Buying in Europe is a lot cheaper.

@npub1a73…7y6q I don’t like the idea of going to trade shows for a few reasons.
1) I don’t want to be flown out by a company because that’s more of a relationship than I want with a company.
2) I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars to go to a trade show where all I’m gaining is awareness of the gear that will be available in a few months.
3) I don’t want to get too friendly with these companies or the people who work at them. I like many of them, but don’t want to become too close.

@npub18zn…7c68 @npub1a73…7y6q So I could lie & bullshit people, but they would hear proof that I’m lying right to their face so there would be no benefit for me. On top of that for people like who have spent well over $100k buying audio gear over the better part of a decade to review, it would be absolutely brain dead of me to sell out and throw away my integrity and the trust I’ve built up over 8 years to please a company that sent me a mic that cost them $50 or $500 to make. That’d be short sighted as heck

@npub18zn…7c68 @npub1a73…7y6q I understand your skepticism and that’s your prerogative to distrust anyone who receives a product at no charge. The wonderful thing about microphones and standard testing is that you can’t hide the bullshit. If I do the same tests on every single microphone whether it’s sent at no cost or if I buy it with my own money, those flaws will come out and be presented in the actual video so the person watching will hear the issue.
