Similarly, someone committed to defeating Republicans can be more critical of specific Democrats than you personally would be or think others should be. That doesn't make those commentators your political enemies. [www.liberalcurrents.com/talarico-d-i...](https://www.liberalcurrents.com/talarico-d-is-just-a-letter-to-me-now/ )

More than anything, it's a strange position that holds that it is bad to claim politicians are either with your or against you, AND hold that it is correct to claim that *commentators* are either with the party or against it. You can recognize the best politicians available are not perfect.

But we shouldn't let too-online leftist non-voters—a tiny fraction of the American left period, never mind American voters—loom so large in our minds that we treat any internal criticism of Democratic candidates as out of bounds. Expressing anger at the position you and your community have been put in, and making very reasonable critiques of its political efficacy, all while emphasizing that *Texans should absolutely vote for Talarico*, is not being a "wrecker". Yet someone has already characterized her very reasonable essay as exhibiting "wrecker tendencies" because she does not feel the need to completely kiss Talarico's ass on the topic of his triangulating on her rights and the rights of people like her. This reaction does not seem helpful to me.

There's been a lot of understandable anger from the trans community at Talarico's comments. There's also been pushback along the lines of "it's like Obama and gay marriage, Paxton is worse." For most of my life people worried about the fragmentation of the media and what it did to national unity, or our ability to orient the society towards truthfulness.
