Please participate in a survey about LibreOffice Base
In the past we run several surveys to better understand the use cases for Calc, Impress, Draw, and Writer templates. And since TDF hired a developer for Base it’s time to investigate this module.
We collected a couple of questions that address not only actual users of LibreOffice Base but also people who use other tools or no database at all.
So please participate at https://survey.documentfoundation.org/493555.

On 13 October 2026, Microsoft ends support for Office 2021. No more security updates, no more fixes, no more assurances. The software will still launch. It will still open your files. Hi! Not sure why you're baffled that something doesn't happen – LibreOffice is a volunteer-driven, community project with extremely limited resources. If something isn't being worked on, it's not "baffling" – it's because the volunteers simply don't have the resources to implement every single request. More help is always welcome 😊 Thanks for understanding!

What We Owe Each Other, in Millimetres and Volts
A standard is a public agreement about how things should fit together. Two words in that sentence carry the weight: public and agreement. Public, because the rules are written down and anyone can read them. Agreement, because nobody imposes them alone; they are negotiated between parties who accept that the shared space is more valuable than any individual advantage within it.

Well first, would you like to retract your statement that the hard-working LibreOffice volunteers "don't care"? Maybe join the Design team calls and see what they're working on, or read their minutes: https://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/2025/msg00109.html – Does that look like people who "don't care"? There is a lot of work going on, from volunteers in their spare time, who get hugely demoralised by such flippant remarks. Why not contribute back and help them, or fund someone?
