Four days (Sept 10th) after the initial Liquid hack Bullbitcoin finally decided to address that half their wallet's functionality was down due to a critical breach in the liquid network.
Aqua was discussing the hack immediately.
This is not a serious wallet despite the good work in other areas (payjoin / legal battles in the EU / etc). Regardless Liquid is dead as soon as swaps return.

None of us are not entitled to zaps. Whether bitcoin or monero. 😛
Receiving and sending money for short internet notes is ridiculous as fuck already lol.

Has Bull Bitcoin mentioned the liquid outage and theft publicly? I may be stupid, but I’m not seeing anything. Feels pretty important to at least mention it on your socials :).
Wallet website still has Coldcard Q features listed also.. :dog:

This was a very good episode, thanks Carl and crew. I think it was nice listening to a dev involved in both Bitcoin and freedom tech more broadly.
Obscura looks interesting, and I’ll keep my eyes on it. We’ll have to see how court orders play out when Obscura is inevitably subjected to them. I don’t love the US jurisdiction, but any developed nation shares intelligence anyways. Plus there is the two hop model and good account/payment privacy which mitigates it. If they can solve the VPN reputation issue with connecting to websites that would be HUGE. I feel like the more private and secure a VPN provider is the more it’s abused and therefore the more its IPs get blocked by websites… Improved reputation plus better choice on websites to exclude would make this a no brainer recommendation for normal people who don’t want to deal with the friction (family members etc).
A suggestion for the ungovernable.network site, make it easier to full screen a video. Right now I’ve had to fiddle with either pop out players or opening in a new tab.
Cheers!

It’s a real shame. I honestly didn’t expect that response.
This cuts out payment processors, potentially the partner bank/issuer, and all of their data sharing partners.
However, like with all things there are real trade offs. Booking directly gives much better support from airlines/hotels, better chance of actually receiving services, and loyalty benefits which can make travel more enjoyable.
Trade offs all the way down, but it’s certainly a useful service.

Having a full node w/o hashpower is securing your sovereignty and privacy. I think it has real benefit, and it should be encouraged still.
It however does not give you the right to force others to act a certain way. You’ve got to put up (hashrate) or shut up. Whether it’s on bitcoin or another chain.
tldr yeah I agree lol

The swap fees on Bull I feel like could turn off a new user, but when I tested it recently the process was very slick, and I don’t have concerns about the liquid network even if it’s technically custodial. 🌊

What wallets is everyone using to onboard family and friends that show interest in bitcoin?
I’d feel 100% comfortable recommending Sparrow on desktop, but for mobile I’m less sure. Ideally it would be onchain/lightning because so much of the payment infrastructure is through lightning now.
It would be nice if there was native tor integration so they could utilize my node rather than a public one. I think this is the main thing Phoenix Wallet is missing. Orbot is so ass I can’t push anyone towards that haha. 😆
