banger videogame idea:
yugioh forbidden memories clone with generative AI. instead of memorizing a single set of rules (mostly which elements plus a dragon plus a thunder are needed to make twin headed thunder dragon) you give the LLM a prompt and it generates an entire cardgame art and all.
every card combines with any other card to make whatever the AI thinks is appropriate, generate its stats and image on the fly during the fusion animation, cache the result for the future
with a lightning lora and lowres image generation on card art (512x512) you could probably get the GPU requirements low enough to be anything that can run dark souls
all i'd be using the LLM for would be picking a name and stats, so it could totally be generated at runtime

ideally you'd start with a cheap modular design, identify all resources needed for each part, and then modify it on the fly to address new threats. also it looks like nobody's actually checked appalachia for rare earths?
this could actually just be an appalachian mom and pop chip fab that piggybacks off old mining infrastructure there and potentially hires workers from that region if someone can identify which part of it has rare earths

But... at that point, it's not really a translation patch, is it? "Translation patch and i fixed this one bug." also runs into the issue that this has a really neat interaction where you can stack max MP buffs without raising HP to take advantage of the spells that cost x% of your max HP as fuel.

wouldn't need to store game rom as bytecode, could stringify a series of ansi bytes in a common event and run that text as a script call to load a rom stored locally. could pack the nes ram into 683 bytes
at that point i'd just need to condense opcode handling into a series of 12 line script calls whose scopes are self-limited and then have clever ways to draw the visuals to the new canvas

i just realized since i can search for command 122 (add to variable) and pull an arbitrary value from it, and each command within an event is a single value that gets parsed later by the engine, theoretically i could spread a series of seemingly pointless variable additions/subtractions/whatever to embed arbitrary pseudo-bytecode that gets interpreted into script commands at runtime
this would allow me to create a common event that writes itself during runtime that's near-completely obfuscated within the editor itself, which would allow me to hide code from dataminers. i'd be inventing a bytecode assembly language that runs through a javascript interpreter spread throughout the game one byte at a time

this is SO FUCKING CURSED
so to explain a bit
i wanted to have a weighted loot distribution table that's easily scalable and not hardcoded without resorting to a plugin that reads an external json.
so i wrote a short script that
1) goes through a defined common event id (in this case, 18, which this is a screencap of)
2) looks for every command that adds a static value to variable 37 (eg, += 10)
3) adds each of those values together to get a cumulative weight for items in the pool
4) compares those weights against the prand that's calculated off gameseed
5) and writes that to variable 36
then i just compare variable 36 in the common event to get nice clean easy to write to and edit loot table common events
variable 37 isn't actually used for anything during calculation, it's just there to denote item weights, and after a long playthrough it's going to hit the engine's max integer size (999999) but it doesn't fucking matter because it's not actually USED FOR ANYTHING

i incorporated a lot of the feedback i got from you guys. i'm still not sure how to define spider-like movement speeds to translate that into gameplay mechanics, nor am i particularly satisfied with what i've got so far for its chasing sound effects

i have a theory about slavic petty infighting
normally when one group is good enough at conquest and statecraft, they conquer and assimilate all rival groups, thereby creating a single unified identity like "roman" or "british"
but slavs are so bad at statecraft they're stuck at the pre-conquest phase and none of them is strong enough to unify the others by force to create a unified slavdom. they all want to but can't because of massive skill issue. the most successful attempt in history was the soviet union and we all saw how that played out
