No, the metric system is better because it doesn't require me to do algebraic trigonometry to covert from one unit to another. Just add 0s to the right or to the left.

Cool beans, AliExpress just started requiring age verification through a third party to see "18+" products, this includes anything from nails to dildos. I guess I am not buying anything on aliexpress anymore. I also opened a case with Customer Support complaining about it and they escalated it.
Please if you're an AliExpress customer, do not go through the hoop, open a customer service case, let's see how many of them they can deal with.
As always, biometric verification constitutes a "disproportionate verification", as stated in point 37 of the 2022/2065 regulation, and third party auditors have often violated the requirement of confidentiality and security of information in article 92, so they're not worthy of your personal information.

well that's a new one...
AAM Adult Attracted Minor...
what the fuck...
Basically just had a minor interact with a picture I marked as NSFW, and follow me... I went to their profile, and it literally says "AAM, 18 - 2 years old"... Like bro u ok? Can you not? Blocked and suspended.

I mean there are reasons to not consume either. Butter is made of saturated fats, which are terrible for the heart, and margarine can contain trans fats, which are ALSO terrible for the heart, so like you're better off not having any of them.
BUUUT if you insist in having them, like I do, I'd just do margarine. Not because it's healthier, but because it's just plain better and doesn't profit off of animal suffering... Not that you probably care about that since you're advocating for butter xd

2024-10-16 06:46:54 GMT

uhm... s-so... margarine? :kekw:
I mean not that there is anything wrong with margarine, I just honestly don't see why you'd try to insist in comparing it to butter...
It's just not even in the same league, butter is hard as fuck to spread at room temperature and doesn't really taste any better than margarine.

I'm just going to straight up say it... I do not like the direction Sharkey is taking here. They're about to merge a [PR](https://activitypub.software/TransFem-org/Sharkey/-/merge_requests/611) that will add ID verification to the software, contributing to the normalization of privacy invasive practices and to methods that are not effective at protecting children, and very effective at making the internet a less open and more unsafe space for everyone, including children.
The feature is going to be optional, but it still normalizes ID verification and leads people to believe this is a safe method to check a person's age online.
Instance admins on the fediverse should always make sure they have enough capacity to check on their users, it should be their responsibility to verify their user's age, and prevent users from seeing NSFW posts if needed. If you, as an instance admin do not have enough capacity to do this, you should re-consider the size of your instance.
Machine ID verification methods like this one completely de-humanize the process, making it so children are only seeing a screen saying "you can't access this content" which will make them want to see it even more. Whereas direct contact with the instance admin (a human being), explaining to them why they shouldn't be seeing that content and having a constructive conversation, are much more productive at preventing underage users from exposing themselves to potentially disturbing content. Not just on the instance, but also elsewhere.

I semi-agree with OP. They should be allowed to contribute, but only as long as they're not under ANY pressure or load. Same thing goes for any other open source contributor really... Open source is not a job, unless you're getting paid under a contract, and as such, neither kids nor adults should be under any pressure or load... They should only contribute because they feel like it.

jfc... well shame on the IOC for not reimbursing them then... I maybe should probably read the article before running my mouth then, I understood it as the host country paying for this... Which again, not a problem, but could make US citizens interessted in "healthcare trips" to Europe, which as much as I wouldn't advocate for denying healthcare for anyone, regardless of birth place, I don't think is the best way to take care of a US problem that should be solved by the US.

2024-08-08 22:32:36 GMT

- reply

The only problem with all this is they don't pay tax in France, therefore you could say they're actively stealing from the French people... Not that it's much of an issue in this case since they're bringing much more money to the french people by being there than they take by doing a few X rays, but just be aware what you need to do is get fucking public healthcare in the US, not book a flight for France and get healthcare there because it's literally cheaper to do that than to get healthcare in your own damn country...
It's frankly quite pathetic that people in a developed country like the US is supposed to be have to die by the millions every year because they can't afford basic fucking healthcare...

2024-06-20 17:12:03 GMT

I mean most of my complains about the actual fedi protocol are about reachability of posts and such.
For example: imho, if I'm reading a post, all the replies to that post should federate, but this is not how it works in practice. In practice, only the post you're reading federated, every other activity must be manually federated or relayed through a relay.

2024-06-20 17:09:42 GMT

Well the layers thing is always going to be there with complex software like *key is, and this does indeed seem a *key issue, it's def not a protocol thing.
