Last Notes

Reminder for those who may not be aware that those "fancy/custom text" things using special unicode characters that bypass ASCII fonts to make your name look cool or fancy or whatever ruin accessibility, like hard.
They break screen readers hard, since most, if not all, don't know how to handle them properly and end up pronouncing something like "Special character S" or whatever. They're also significantly harder to read than a user's chosen font, or the default fonts on any reasonable operating system or website, especially for neurodivergent and in particular dyslexic people.
Please stop using them, and maybe nudge your friends to stop using them.
Boosts appreciated for awareness

Unfortunately at the moment, I'm bit tight on funds but in the new year when I have a bit more to spend, I definitely plan to become a friend of GNOME. It's my favourite desktop environment, and while i don't really have the time or motivation to contribute to it directly (as much as I want to anyway), I still want to support it and help it thrive in any way I can.

Been working on something small lately
Starlight is a new opinionated colour scheme, featuring a minor tint to backgrounds and the use of pastel accent colours. It's designed to be relatively high contrast without being too harsh, and to be colourful while still being calm and legible.
I currently have ports for KDE Plasma, Kate, Konsole, and Gowall.
Feel free to give it a try, and make your own ports! https://codeberg.org/fizzyizzy05/starlight/
Boosts appreciated!

It's been a year since I did my last intro post and I'm trying to reboot my account a bit.
I'm Isabelle, but I usually go by Izzy. Call me which one you want. I'm a 20 year old computer science student from the UK coming into my final year. I've been on Fedi since 2022.
I'm bi, transfem and I suffer from Autism and ADHD, which causes me a lot of executive dysfunction (where being organised is really hard).
I like free software, emo and rock music, video games (of any variety as long as it's fun), and programming. I'm also wanting to learn how to draw soon. I maintain Binary, a number base converter for GNOME, and want to start other projects but don't have the time or motivation sadly.
Feel free to say hi or talk with me, I won't bite! (unless you're a fascist, then please fuck off)

Binary 5.0 is out!
This is a small update featuring support for multiple windows, other number bases, and multiple UI improvements.
Get it now on [Flathub](https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.fizzyizzy05.binary )!

I thought I'd write a quick blog post at midnight before a coach trip about recent hot takes, as well as the general sentiment around it.
GNOME isn't for you, and that's okay!

Hot take: The "Linux community" has too many assholes and too many more people defending them

Since, I moved instances, I'm going to reintroduce myself.
I'm Isabelle Jackson, but I generally just go by Izzy. I'm 19 and I'm a computer science student. I like tech, games, and Linux. I use Fedora Silverblue as my OS of choice and use GNOME as my main desktop.
I maintain Binary, a number base converter, and am working on Colourful, an inspirational app generating colours. I'm also interested in contributing to other GNOME/GNOME-related projects.
I'm transfem, and have ADHD and autism. I have my pronouns as a data field on my profile. I generally go by she/her, but if we're close at all, they/them is fine also.
Feel free to put in a follow request. Unless you have a blank profile, a bigot, or otherwise a bad person, I'll likely accept. I just like having extra control over my account.
