I jumped. I finally got rid of the Ubiquiti router and replaced it with a mini PC with an Intel Celeron CPU, 8GB of RAM 128 GB SSD and 4x2.5GB ethernet running .... vanilla FreeBSD!
I've automated everything with Ansible and simulated it in a virtual environment to reduce downtime as much as possible.
As expected, I encountered some issues with PPPoE, but they were quickly resolved. I also found some performance issues on PPPoE (which I solved as well), but that's probably for another post.
There's a lot to be done, configurations to be finished or polished. But still, it's a huge step for me. And, bonus point, I've got my IPv6 back ☺️

Jumping on FreeBSD seems like an entirely new world to me, and I'm still at the beginning of the learning curve.

depends on your area(s) of interest. @npub1ayt…h6nx gave great suggestions.
I initially appreciated ZFS, but I also started appreciating the networking stack.
Jails/Bastille can also be interesting, especially in cooperation with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab has a runner for FreeBSD). You can easily export a jail with bastille and publish the artifact, which can be imported on other machines. Also, podman has been ported on FreeBSD as well, and it's very interesting stuff. However, my preference is to use as many native tools as possible.
I also appreciated that many tools were written using plain shell scripts. Learning shell at that level is just another world. Sometimes, we use tools that aren't as necessary as we think, and some (even complex) tasks can be achieved with shell.
That is mastery, IMHO.
I'm a datacenter girl, so I'm less interested in desktop-related stuff.

I experimented with the Gemini protocol as an alternative to the bloated web. I liked it, but somehow, I wasn't attracted to it, not even to my own projects.
I'm now thinking, for my own stuff, to use just Markdown over HTTP(S) and a simple browser like this:

FYI, the interview wasn't prepared at all. Nothing was agreed upon in advance except for 5 minutes before speaking about the potential topics, and all was improvised.

There's something I said off the air during my live stream on YouTube.
Dear content creators, I understand YouTube attracts audience. And the same thing apply to publishing books on Amazon (including ebooks).
Especially when it comes to e-books, I'd like to own the e-book and not relying on Amazon to provide me content that can be revoked any time.
And you (authors) are in the hands of these corporations, that can chop your profits or worse at their will.
But can you please think about an alternative way to publish your content?
Like selling the epub/pdf file through BookFunnel or publishing videos on PeerTube.
I'm not saying you shouldn't use YT or KDP, but just have an additional option.
