Yes for now. Some frontends allow you to create channels to keep things organized. And most allow you to filter down to only the accounts you follow. Eventually there will be algorithms that rank content just like Twitter/Insta/YT but they will be opt-in and open source.

Because if you have a checkmark and a following on Twitter. All you need is a pubkey on your Twitter profile to mirror the centralized social status that a Twitter checkmark gave you.

They are realizing that there is really nothing stopping a mass migration (especially if the transition can be made to be easy and seamless). So they freaked out and banned external links lol...🙄

The recent "linktree policy" was a panicked reaction to the realization that the Twitter platform "moat" is really a social construct. The company did a brilliant job in the early days to build the "checkmark" validity, but at the end of the day these platforms are just platforms

I remember watching my roommate in college spend hours fussing over his Halo 3 spartan cosmetics. I pissed him off when I compared him to a little girl playing with her dolls.

Fortnite/CSS skins are a terrible way to express individuality. Play style is the true expression of your will. The cosmetic skin is just the representation of your avatar which is already a repr of your will within the game. The cosmetic choice is only a repr of your vanity.

And another metagame that I would participate in was the game of "expressing individuality." MTG decks are expressions of individuality. What does a black-red deck say about me? White-blue? LoL champion selection is an expression of individuality.

I used to play videogames and board games because it was engaging and interesting to solve the optimization problem. I considered myself a creative player because sometimes I would invent my own win conditions or participate in new ways to play.

The players ask themselves how can I convert all of these different resources and events and game systems into victory points for myself? If the problem is too easy or too difficult the game is not fun.

Most games are multidimensional optimization problems.
Designing a fun game is a matter of disguising the multidimensional optimization problem and adjusting the difficulty (quantity of dimensions).

idk. I started a few different accounts and tested posting back and forth and I was able to search for those accounts pretty easily. Maybe try that. Maybe your friend's key is off or is the wrong one?
