no accounts, no SaaS, no PDF exports.
Quick story.
When you need to plan a project timing, your options today aren't
great. Excel is endless pain (no template, you draw the rectangles
by hand, and if the schedule shifts you redo half the work).
Dedicated PM software either has an awful interface or full PMBOK
methodology on top, most of which just gets in the way. SaaS PM
tools need accounts for everyone, including read-only viewers,
and store your data on their servers (often a problem under an
NDA). And the moment you need to share, you're stuck between
"install the same software" or "PDF export that doesn't fit".
I've been through this more than once.
So I set myself a challenge. Build an app where:
— No install. Everything in the browser. PWA at most.
— Data stays on your machine, nothing leaves unless you explicitly
share.
— No resource pools, no baselines, none of the heavy PMBOK
machinery for simple timings.
— Only the essentials: one dependency type (Finish-to-Start,
covers ~99% of real cases — "finished this, started the next"),
one constraint (ASAP).
— Permanent link sharing via Nostr (kind 39285 shortener + kind
39288 project event) + Blossom for the snapshot. The recipient
opens the link in their browser, no signup.
— Password protection: AES-GCM-256 with PBKDF2 client-side. Even
the Blossom server can't read it.
— Whole app is static, <3 MB. Anyone can self-host on their own
domain on the cheapest hosting plan.
— No backend to scale. 10 users or 10,000, doesn't matter.
— If you want extra security, attach your own Blossom + relay.
One evening with a cup of tea.
And it actually turned out pretty well.
