you guys do realize that all these hallmarks of "AI" browsers/scrapers are also the same things that accessibility tools do, right? because both interact with a webpage as a big pile of text, not as a bunch of 2d images you can click on.
but it's fine. we should be feeding deliberately fake data to any browser that doesn't act exactly like the latest version of google chrome with all tracking features enabled. we should block entire ASNs permanently because a single connection did something that looked kind of weird in one of your access logs. we should force every device to burn compute hours solving proof of waste puzzles because we need to fight those evil AI companies wasting compute hours. we are the good guys and we are doing the right thing.

2026-08-18 03:57:14 GMT

blocking random IPs and shoving everything through mazes of captchas and proof of work and giving poisoned data to anyone who isn't using a "correct" web browser to try and stop "AI scrapers" it just feels a bit like we've created a medicine that's worse than the disease here

as a victim of child sexual abuse it honestly pisses me off when i hear people describe ai generated images as "child sexual abuse material"
like, no, that's not what it is. it can very obviously still be Bad, of course, but we still need to be respecting the fact that it is Different. do people not see how it is trivializing actual rape and abuse by comparing it to a made-up image a computer generated out of nothing? how every time i have to talk about Actual Honest To Goodness Real Life Pictures Of A Real Life Child Having Sex Crimes Done To Them In Real Life as a concept i have to add even more fucking qualifiers to lest people think i'm talking about drawings or deepfakes
it's just fucking exhausting

i think that if your social space is going to attempt and have a "no politics" rule that rule must be enforced by a council which contains at least one gay person, one trans person, one black person, one woman, one member of each major religion (and one nonreligious person of course), etc
because otherwise that rule is just going to turn into "no complaining about bigotry"

2025-05-27 04:15:52 GMT

the fixed route uber is a great idea actually. but instead of using a normal car, it should be a larger vehicle, with room for more passengers. and then we should give it a dedicated lane, so it doesn't get stuck in traffic. after that, we should have it run on rails - it's always going the same route anyways - and that will make it more efficient. it could even be powered by electricity delivered from wires overhead!

and my point is we should abolish the sex-based segregation entirely. allowing everyone to participate equally is what matters; winning is not something anyone should feel entitled to. remember that such systems are created to protect men's egos from realizing a woman is better than them at something

that's a lot of words to say you think women are inferior to men

- reply

... so your point is you believe women are inherently inferior to men here? ok buddy

2025-04-08 14:44:52 GMT

- reply

you are wrong in saying that, yes. because sports are a lot more complicated than single metrics, and elite athletes are - shockingly - not average people.
the purpose of gender segregation in sports is not to protect women, it is to protect men from having to suffer the emotional suffering of losing to a woman. and in sports where physical characteristics like that do matter, like wrestling for example, we already have a solution for that; which is things like weight classes. take the physical characteristic that actually matters and divide people based upon that! easy.

2025-04-08 04:07:28 GMT

the part that gets me the most about the "fairness in women's sports" stuff is that it assumes women are inherently inferior to men. okay so you're just misogynistic got it, let's move on to something that actually matters

hot take: anti cheat should work by withholding information from the client that the player does not need to know. this solves wallhack/xray cheats.
for aimbot-style cheats, start by detecting the physically impossible actions. then, the rest is a game design issue, because a sufficiently skilled player can do the exact same things 100% legit.
