In a joint statement, Scottish Trans, Trans+ Solidarity Alliance and TransActual claimed the legal framework is "fundamentally broken" but the huge backlash driven against the Code of Practice "opens up a vital sliver of hope for a better future in UK law."

How are transgender parents currently registered on their children’s birth certificates in the UK?
We are supporting the TransReg study, conducted by researchers at the University of Zurich and KU Leuven, to gather anonymous data on the birth registration process for trans parents.
The goal is to highlight injustices and provide the evidence needed to push for legal reform and policy changes that actually protect our families.

What you need to know:
Who can take part: Any transgender parent (or prospective parent) who has registered a child’s birth in the UK.
How long: It takes about 30 minutes. It cannot be saved, so please complete it in one sitting.
What you need: It’s helpful (but not required) to have your child’s birth certificate and any Gender Recognition Certificates nearby for your own reference. You will not be asked to upload any documents.

it does not protect trans people’s ability to participate fully in society, it does not support organisations that wish to remain inclusive, and it does not comply with the UK’s domestic and international human rights obligations.
